I read where Puerto Rico now wants to be a state. Is that going to add another group of Democrat voters?

Puerto Ricans opt for statehood in referendum

Yay. Another addition to the 'give me something for my vote' party. :whatever:

Yipee kiy-yaye-ay. More bloodsuckers.

If Peurto Rico became a state it would make Detroit look like the land of milk and honey. My grandmother ex-boyfriend lost like 4 relatives to violence related crimes in like 5 years.

Need you even ask?

IMO yes, they want freebies and 'entitlements'. They believe they will get millions or billions in funding if they become a state. Can you have a referendum on whether or not you want them to be a state ?

They want a seat at the table, but what do they bring to the table? Cheap rum?
-
They are fools. PRs pay no taxes now. and they want to be a state just before Obama's tax hike?
If I was PR I would opt to be an independent sovereign state.

P.R. has voted against becoming a state on at least one occasion. So, I think they want to keep their independence, and this is just a bunch of chatter.

I agree. It has been standard expectation for PR to decide against statehood because of taxes. Ever read about Saipan? I didn't realize it was a part of America until last year, but its a fascinating place to read about.

They voted against it in 1967, 1993, and 1998. But this is more than just chatter, dropping commonwealth status won by 8% and then in the 2nd part statehood won over other options by 28%. Even though the opposition is claiming:
There's no way Obama can say that the Puerto Rican people have spoken in a united voice for anything."

Its up to the congress now to decide if we will let them become a state
