Title: I just filed for my SS retirement
Post by: Linda on November 07, 2012, 10:16:18 AM
I just finished filling out the application for my social security retirement. I refuse to work to support the obama supporters.  I will not pay for anymore obama phones. I will not pay for any further down fall of this country. I will continue to vote in hopes of saving what's left of this country for my grandchildren. For all of you people who voted for 4 more years of the same, open your wallets, because mine is closed.

Thank you Gina, I am sorry you have so many years to suffer through paying for these idiots out there. I wish there was a way to close your wallet to all these obama free loaders too.

Welcome aboard the SS gravy train... Keep in mind, you'll still have to file and pay taxes on your social security retirement payments every April. Be sure to have enough withdrawn from your check to cover your tax rate. But, yes, you'll still be funding the fed through your taxes. Also, set it up for automatic payments to your account, whether checking or savings. Mine arrives the 3rd of each month, or by end-of-week prior if the 3rd falls on a weekend or holiday. It beats having to wait for the mail.

I filed about 3 weeks ago, I did so On Line, no standing around or trying to find a parking space in the town. After a week or so I received a phone call to go over the information I had sent in, and was able to ask some questions.   One week later I received in the mail a print out of what I had filed for and confirmation that my checks would be sent to my bank.   Now I have to wait until April to get my first one but it will include rectoactive to when I filed.

I hate the whole idea of receiving money I did not work for, ---Yes I know 45 years of paying into the system but still nothing in my life beats the satisfaction of receiving a pay check knowing I did more for it then just get old.

I have no idea where I get this from, everyone in my family celebrated when they retired, they think I am an odd ball in the family.

Yet, getting say a gift card to buy a t.v. is a nice surprise, but, when one has to put away change every week to be able to afford one, then after all the months of savings and anticipation of the big day and you know you did it your self,  there is a sense of pride in what you accomplished.

Sort of like building ones own boat, the pride in it and workmans ship..  One can just go out and buy a boat but it is not the same thing.
