A second thread on this.

Of course all the DUmmies are overjoyed about how much 0bama cares and blah blah blah.

I still say where was he when Americans were getting slaughtered in Libya?
I guess there were no photo ops to be had and the fundraiser in Vegas was more important.

You DUmmies are so easily fooled.

There really isn't all that much that a President has to do in these situations, except sign the disaster declarations after the Governors each ask him for one to cover their affected areas, since he can't commit most of the disaster funds without that step.  In Katrina, the shithead Democrat Governor of Louisiana had a spaz attack and wouldn't do it, which tied FEMA's and the President's hands, which can only be un-logjammed by either the Governor suddenly getting a clue, or things getting so far out of hand that the Feds can declare civil government has broken down and intervene to restore order.  The President is also necessary if there are going to be any Federal military (Not Guard) assets committed for anything but immediate lifesaving, but that hasn't come up yet and at this point wouldn't make a ton of sense anyway.

Everything else is just being present for duty and looking concerned when the cameras click, which is still important for public morale, but hard to actually screw up unless maybe you're Joe Biden...although this is probably the first major regional disaster where the President has taken time out of his busy campaign and golf schedule to actually do even that.

Well if that is what it takes where was Nobama during the flooding last here I ask again? He was no where to be seen and the flood lasted over 13 weeks. Farmers lost crops,  you know that stuff you  morons eat after you get it at the store and its been put there for you. People lost their homes and whole towns were flooded here and not one time did your Prezzy show up and looked "Presdential" I guess it only matters to him when its a blur state that might flip during an election otherwise the only thing he did was sign some paperwork to make things happen for the people out here and tha tis the only thing simular to whats going on now.

Popping in for a photo-op.
Disrupting and causing delays in rescue/recovery work sure is "leading".

Political move to polish the turd, nothing more.

This might explain why Cristy was  Obama.  He knew that Obama might treat New Jersey like a flyover state without the kissing up.

(cough, cough)  :not:

the "short bus" riders also have short memories

How long did it take Obama to respond to the "worst" oil spill in our history?

Did Obama ever respond to the Tennessee floods?

I know we've had a lot of other disasters too like tornados, more floods, wild fires, wind storms and draughts.  Was Obama "leading" then too?

He looks like he fell alseep on her. He's doing that a lot lately....

Talking directly about the event though, I'd say he's just trying to not compound his mistakes that he knows he has made with another un-compassionate act. I'm sure he isn't unaware of the damage Libya has done to him at the polls, irregardless of if he'd still let those great guys die 'over there'. Listening to that father speak to Geraldo on Fox News damned near made me tear up.

White House: Obama "Has Not Participated" In Benghazi Investigation

—Ace

But he's determined to get all the facts out, he says.

Quote
He has not participated in the investigation. He is anticipating results that show us exactly what happened and who is responsible and what lessons we can learn from it and ensure it never happens again. He expects the investigation to be rigorous.

He needs an investigation to discover what orders he gave on the night of the attack?

Or when and why he refused additional security for the consulate?

Does he have Alzheimer's?

You do not need a "rigorous investigation" to do an hour-long search of the emails of the thirty or forty people involved in these decisions.

You simply need the will to do that search.

Which Obama doesn't have.

Obama's speech after Sandy struck.

He set up a photo op. including a lectern.

Bush's speech after 9-11. Completely impromptu.

Hummm!! Let's see. A real leader is one that stages a photo op or one that gets down and dirty, giving a speech through a bull horn.

Choice is easy to me.

Homes and businesses in the Lower East Side and East Village are still without power and under water. Residents began dumpster diving outside a Key Food supermarket Thursday, looking for whatever food they can take. Jonathan Vigliotti reports.

They were also putting Romney down for having a food drive instead of giving money.

As usual the DUmmies are wrong. Since I think it was last Friday or Saturday at the latest, both Romney and Ryan were posting graphics asking people to donate money to the Red Cross on their facebook pages. I also suspect that Romney has slipped a nice check to the Red Cross, only he wouldn't hold a press conference and have photos of him signing the check like 0bama would.

I might be wrong but what good is the cash if there is no way to get the food ? I mean after what has just happened that food could have spoiled in some places by now and for sure by Sunday. the canned stuff might not even be there and then there is the problem of just having a store open and the power to run everything in it so having cash isn't the end to all your problems.

If the roles were reversed, canned food would be manna from heaven.  Then again, Obinga donating used bubble gum would be considered the greatest act of charity since before biblical times.

I don't recall that sort of panic when some heavier storms came through my way.
Don't wish to deminish what they're going though, but, jeez, get grip, adapt, overcome.

Nope.  Tornadoes, Mississippi floods....none of that.  Wonder what the difference is.......?

I can sympathize with this though:

Got me thinking here about past Presidents and Governors handled national disasters.   I am thinking back before the 1960's

Were not the Governors each and every one responsible for the well being of those they Governed over.  ?   Was not the Federal Government in charge of National Defence, printing money and only come to the aid of a state that was desperate as the Governor had not done their job????

What ever happen to the Governors that were held accountable for their leadership, to ask for Federal aid was a black mark on their record.  To have a Governor go to the president to beg for help when things in their state were F*cked up was a disgrace.

Seems like our Governors today are just a figure head, the slightest thing happen they did not prepare for sends them running to Washington as they paid no attention to the problems those they governed over needed.

This crap of the Fedeal Government getting our lives every day is worry some.   AZ. for instance that cannot make their own laws and enforce them due to the Feds.

Times we need our National Guard in a disaster, Great they do a good job, but what about a state that has a sloppy Governor that finds disaster happend on their watch and expects other States to spend their money to help them out for a problem that was  for seeable but ignored by a crappy Governor ?

Disaster's like Sandy are expected in and on the coast,  The States that got this storm had no idea anything like this would happen to them.    However the States along the Atlantic knew what would happen, has happend many times before.   So I ask why all the million dollar homes destroyed had no defence. ?   Why zoning laws  did not along time ago come into force to make these home safe to live in or own.??

NYC what can I say, an old town built on unstable ground and rebuilt over time.    May God bless the people that sufered through the storm and loosing homes to fires, floods and wind.  One can build a home to protect against flooding and wind and rain but hard to protect against fire.

That piece of crap will never, ever get so much as a drop of blood from me.

If you live near a major military post, you might want to look into this instead: Armed Services Blood Program (http://www.militaryblood.dod.mil/). Little known fact: the ARC sells blood to the military (among other organizations), for profit The Blood Brokers (http://www.bloodbook.com/part-4.html).

I don't want to give the impression that no one should donate blood. Just realize what's going on before you go donate at the ARC thinking it's an altruistic org looking out for people.

That piece of crap will never, ever get so much as a drop of blood from me.

I'll vouch for that via my brother.

In 1969, he was stationed at Keesler AFB when Hurricane Camille came through.  After all the enlisted who had left the area came back to base, they sent them out to help clean up the area around Biloxi.  They had been out for several hours and hadn't had anything to drink, so they saw a Red Cross truck nearby and went over to get some water.  The Red Cross refused to let them have any since they were military.  They're telling them "Look, we're out here cleaning up and trying to help and you won't give us any water?"  You gotta be kidding."  But nope, they wouldn't.

What the Red Cross did there was stupid.  Since then, my brother will have nothing to do with the Red Cross.
