Joe Biden had an awkward encounter with a gentleman on the campaign trail earlier today in Sarasota, Florida.

According to the pool report, the Vice President turned to a group of men at a restaurant stop and asked one of them, “Are you Indian?”

“American!” the man responded.

But that wasn’t enough for the Vice President, who dug his heels in further: “No, I mean first generation.” 

This should come as no surprise, though. This is, after all, the man who told us you can’t go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin Donuts “unless you have a slight Indian accent.”
