at the end of the "downticket" info handed out by the local Democratic Party

There you go DUmmies you have your instructions on how to vote so, the smartest people on the planet don't have to think for themselves.

But wait .....there maybe some voter  suppression going on...ball point pens vs a sharpie....

11. Issue with Early Voting FL??

I voted early (in-person) in Florida today also.

I noticed something that has me wondering about voter suppression of "early voters" .....and want to see what others think.

The ballot is the kind where you fill in the blank circles completely.
The blank circle is larger than the kind from years ago - so it takes some effort to completely fill in the circle.

They gave us ball point pens to fill in the circles. Medium Point Bic pens. It took a lot of filling in with the pen to get the black circle full. I noticed this right away. I wonder how many folks don't fill it in as dark as they should because it is a ball point pen.

Same polling area in prior years I remember getting a sharpie type marker to fill in the circles. With the thicker marker - it was much easier to fill in the circle. A few swipes versus the 15 or more "coloring" swipes that are needed to fill in the cirlce with today's ball point pen.

I just wonder....if on voting day (when more Republicans typically vote)...will all the Sharpies appear so folks will have an easier time filling out the black circles. But maybe all through Early voting, will the ball point pens be used.

I voted in Sarasota county which is run by a Republican elected Supervisor or Elections.

Part of me wonders if this is some kind of "under the radar" effort to suppress Democratic votes because more Democrats vote early. Some folks might miss filling out the circle completely with a ball point pen versus a thicker marker.

Really...this is what they are coming out with for voter suppression this year....poor babies, my heart breaks for them having to work so hard to get their vote counted...

19. ball point pens require lots of swipes to fill-in the ovals

View profile
I meant to say the ovals are larger than years and years ago when we filled out those smaller circles for school tests. These are not small ovals.

The issue at hand is that the small point of the ball point pen requires many, many swipes to fill in these ovals. Will sharpies be given on voting day?

I think some folks are going to mess up their ballots(not fill the circle with enough ink) with the ball point pens. Most won't, but a small percentage of voters will not properly fill in their ovals due to the nature of using the ball point pens.

The question is, will ball point pens be used throughout the entire early-voting days AND on voting day.... or will Sharpies be given on voting day. Then we would be treating voters differently.

Dam, be treated special for getting to vote early and then get treated special for getting a sharpie instead of a ball point pen, their jealousy is getting the best of them.

What I think is interesting is that he claims that "Republican types" are more likely to show up on election day.  I have to wonder if this is in fact true, and wonder why it would be the case.

"Cletus, try to fill in the oval."

"I can't!  I simply can't!"

Maybe they have jobs, and can't just go and vote any time they want?  (Or in the DUmb****'s case, as many times as they want.)

I have no doubt the mental-defectives and savages who form the democrat base will have trouble filling in an oval.

There's no system easier than punch cards, and they couldn't handle that.

"When I walked back to the voting booth there was a door right beside it with a neon sign that read, "EXIT". I wonder how many Democratic voters obeyed that sign and just walked out the door without voting. I took a pic of it and sent it to Rachel. Vote suppressing bastards.*drool*" [/DUmmy mode]

"I kept seeing these blurbs on the ballot that said, "Vote For One". I'd like to know who the hell Mr. One is! Damn Republicans. Putting election ads right on the ballots! :argh: [/DUmmy mode]

"So the poll worker hands me the ballot, then says, 'Make sure you completely fill in the white circle.", and I go, 'Oh yeah, the WHITE circle. I'm onto your racist dogwhistles, baby!' That was right before I got tazed, so I don't remember much after that. But the cop was a Rethuglican, that I can guarantee." :stoner:[/DUmmy mode]

"I get to the desk and there's this little old Republican lady there (obviously a Republican by her blue hair, diamond-encrusted hearing aid, and bits of anchor baby between her teeth), and she's like, 'I.D. please', and I'm like, 'I got yer I.D., right here!' I've got a temper, you know. I may be five-four, 118 pounds, piss through a tube, and have a hunchback that would make Charles Laughton blush, but I can be feisty, lemme tell ya. Anyway, she goes, "Sir, we don't appreciate that kind of language at the polling place." Then I'm like, "I'll bet there's a lot of languages you don't like! **** you, lady!' About that time the poll supervisor comes over, and I start telling him how many OWS protesters died to protect my freedom of speech, and I throw a couple of choice Noam Chomsky quotes at him, then the Gettysburg Address, then the St. Crispin’s Day speech from Henry V, to smiles and nods all around. After I had thoroughly shamed them I went over to fill out my ballot, and there were all these damn amendments on there. Fricken GOP making it take so long to vote! Damn their eyes!"[/DUmmy mode]

2. I was planning on voting no on all the amendments....but

The teachers' union is supporting amendment 9 which extends property tax exemptions to the widows of servicemen, and first responders who have died from service-connected causes while on active duty. Seems reasonable to me.
