Remember how Obama ignored the flood victims right after he was elected?

 He didn't need votes then.

And they were white.

I see Romney asking, "how can I help" and secretly making a huge donation to disaster relief efforts as to not make it seem like a political move on his part, which it wouldn't be.

We won't know about it until after the election.

:rotf: You're right. He'll walk on top of the water off the Jersy coast, just as the storm comes in, raises his hands and calmly yet firmly says, "be still", as the storm all of a sudden stops.

Then the earth will start to heal, and the waters rise or fall or whatever they need to do.

If that's his plan, why didn't he do it as Sandy hit Cuba or Jamaica? He doesn't like brown people, just let them die...

Yeah he cares so much all right.  Tell me again where was he during the flooding last year all along the Missouri when we had record water levels and we had to fight with Warren Buffetts railroad to get back access to Pacific Junction Iowa in case the levees broke near there. It seems Warren was more concerned that his rail traffic got through then the survival of about 1500 people when he had some track raised 5 feet higher just outside of the town.

C&P from Powerline:

ROB REINER: The last time Spinal Tap toured America, they were, uh, booked into 10,000 seat arenas, and 15,000 seat venues, and it seems that now, on their current tour they’re being booked into 1,200 seat arenas, 1,500 seat arenas, and uh I was just wondering, does this mean uh…the popularity of the group is waning?

BAND MANAGER DAVID AXELROD: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no…no, no, not at all. We have plenty of time for big stadium gigs. But our focus right now is on intentionally limiting crowds by restricting tickets – to allow the band to better connect with fans.

In light of hearing about this. obama wants to take charge of hurricane relief effort now(where was he during Benghazi?). He cancelled his golf game and party with J.Z to do it. He is such a great President....... He makes me want to puke. He is such a waste of air and space. Romney is slapping him every way since Sunday. I can not wait to vote Romney on November 6th.

It is interesting to see that the worst of the storm's effects seem concentrated in the bluest areas of the Eastern US.  It's also a fact of life that no matter how good the response is, most people in a disaster area that deal with FEMA or any other emergency provider (Above the level of the guy who actually rescues them) are usually not happy with the response.  Don't know if it will actually affect the election, but it's certainly an unpredictable wild card right now.

Let me tell you about the politics of snow in New England.   Your street isn't plowed, or there is a delay in plowing/sanding the major highways and roads whereas you and yours are personally affected?

Yeah, don't matter what sign you have in the front yard, the incumbent is getting his ass handed to him if it happens before an election.    Weather = personal.    They have memory like elephants when it comes to this stuff.

If a person is DUmb enough to be undecided, then they're surely DUmb enough to have their vote influenced by a rain storm.

In the first sentence I was mainly talking about its effect on turnout since it seems very likely that a lot of the bluest areas may still be without power through next Tuesday, and there will be quite a lot of flooding, home damage, and obstructed streets and home damage giving people who aren't in deadly earnest about voting a lot of more pressing matters to deal with - not so much about it actually changing votes, as depressing turnout in some Blue strongholds.  The second sentence is more about the point Formerlurker was addressing.

I don't think it'll change many votes, but it could have a pretty significant effect on turnout in the affected areas.

More likely New York, where the unions went to bars during the last BIG snow storm rather than plow the snowy streets.

Yes and Yes.

He went to Orlando, stayed overnight (at a cost to taxpayers above $100K, I'm sure, once you factor in SS detail), then flew back in the morning. Probably because his campaign advisers told him the optics of campaigning when a huge region is under threat isn't good.

Expect three or four news conferences a day, with an open-collared, sleeves-rolled, grim-faced, jug-eared Kenyan seated in the center of his disaster team, explaining what he, and he alone, has done to save thousands of lives from this 75 mph, rainy monster storm.

I'm concerned Barack Milhous is going to use this as an excuse to request a delay of the national elections.

Something that's never been done before, not even in times of war.

There's been plenty of election days in American history where the Great Plains states were buried under mountains of cold blowing snow, and it was life-threatening to dare step outside.  Were the elections postponed then?
