Not for at least a year.

I am holding out for Windows 9. Maybe then they will come back down to reality.

I'm looking to upgrade from XP soon. After the Vista disaster I haven't really kept up with how Windows is these days. Probably used Windows 7 in a class but I cannot say I had enough time to evaluate it.

If I was going to update from XP, I would skip Vista entirely. My only experience with Windows 7 has been in a business environment and our computers take a beating, so my opinion is probably not going to be very kind either. From everything I have heard about Windows 8, the interface was designed as a replacement for Windows CE/Windows Mobile.
If I were forced to update, I would go with a high-spec version of 7, probably Professional or Enterprise.

& is a lot like XP in functionality to me. Vista sucks, too many crashes.

I love W7. Used the pre-release of W8 and I don't care for the GUI. It's too much like a smart phone.

I ran the RP of Windows 8 for a while and overall liked it. In ran much faster then Win7 ever did for me and I liked the interface overall. My main computer broke however and the laptop I'm on now has no hope of ever running Windows 8 so I'm not worried at the moment.
I'm on a 700Mhz PIII until I fix my good computer :/

Just got New laptop with Windows 7 and it is a lot like XP and so far have had no issues.
I am reading that Windows 8 is very much different but have not seen it so far.

Went to Best Buy today to look at Windows 8. It doesn't appeal to me. Might end up getting it anyway but I really prefer the "Start" button to all that blocky stuff. If I had a touch screen I might feel different but...I might just dig up my XP disk and see how well I can get along with that for a while.
In the meantime running Unbuntu. Seems a bit better than the RHEL I use at work. But want to play some games. So I guess I will have to get Windows of some sort working on here.
