Quote
<snip>Slavery is widely misunderstood and as such has been a tool for hustlers and demagogues. Slavery has been part of the human condition throughout recorded history and everywhere on the globe. Romans enslaved other Europeans; Greeks enslaved other Greeks; Asians enslaved Asians; Africans enslaved Africans; and in the New World, Aztecs enslaved Aztecs and other native groups. Even the word slave is derived from the fact that Slavic people were among the early European slaves.

Though racism has been used to justify slavery, the origins of slavery had little to do with racism. In recent history, the major slave traders and slave owners have been Arabs, who enslaved Europeans, black Africans and Asians. A unique aspect of slavery in the Western world was the moral outrage against it, which began to emerge in the 18th century and led to massive efforts to eliminate it. It was Britain’s military might and the sight of the Union Jack on the high seas that ultimately put an end to the slave trade.</snip>

-If it took my ancestors being slaves to get me here -- here and a citizen of the United States of America in this day and time -- then their lives were not a waste.  They had
purpose and reason and I thank them and God for this destiny.-

I don't remember who said it.  I wish I did because I consider it a profound subject to bring to the surface in this sea of political nonsense and dramatic overstatements.

They know they are better off than they would be if they were in Africa, which is why none of them would take a free ticket back there if offered.

Tickets (no takers) have been offered several times during the last century to the complainers. They know that the bottom 1% in the US is the top 1% in Africa. They know that a food stamp here is worth more than monkey meat with a side of roots in the Congo.

BTW, the same offer was made to the libs that threatened to emigrate if Reagan, Bush#1 or Bush#2 were elected/re-elected. Again, no takers.
