Title: So the DUmmies made themselves famous again
Post by: EagleKeeper on October 23, 2012, 01:53:11 PM
Just another reminder that we ain't the only ones that watch what democrats post on democratunderground.com

It's AoSHQ...This time it's AuthurK

Ace's site is here...http://ace.mu.nu/

It's on the side bar "If You Can Print Money, How Can You Ever Be Broke?"

Here is the direct link...http://www.democraticunderground.com/10021600092

It's a pretty large campfire, I tried to drag the whole thing over here but it was to big. I still have it in my buffer if anyone is interested.

Edit: I'm going to save the whole thing with note pad cause I think this might be DOTY material.

Edit 2: Oh crap! I just thought, I could have posted in that thread and made myself famous!!1

The OP's economic sense is as made up as the planet he names himself after.  Blithering ignorance that speaks volumes.  Actually, some of the (D)Ullards know the stupidity of that premise, but the spark of intelligent thought is fleeting.  I do like this one though:

4. Correct.

You can have inflation (not much of a worry right now), but you cannot be broke, unless you choose to be broke.

Ummmm.....you don't shop for food do you?  Don't drive?  If food and gas were factored in (like they used to be), inflation would be Carteresque.

Cannot be broke.......unless you choose to?   What the hell does that even mean? :mental: :mental:

I too went to Skins's island to see this campfire in all its blazing glory, and was so stultified by the stupidity that I had to just as quickly exit.

Good find, EagleKeeper, and I suggest others check out the link too; at least the one to Skins's island.

45. OK. Now I know DU economics threads do not tend to be academically rigorous

but openly advocating for Weimar-style hyperinflation is about the stupidest thing I have ever seen here. This post makes pushing for Smoot-Hawley 2 seem positively sane by comparison.

6. Hyperinflation can be just as bad.

Quote
Hyperinflation results from a rapid and continuing increase in the supply of money, which occurs when a government prints money or creates credits in bank accounts, instead of collecting taxes to fund government activities. The price increases that result from more government spending create a vicious circle, requiring ever growing amounts of money creation to fund government activities. Hence both monetary inflation and price inflation rapidly accelerate. Such rapidly increasing prices cause widespread unwillingness of the local population to hold the local currency as it rapidly loses its real value. Instead they quickly spend any money they receive, which rapidly increases the velocity of money flow, which in turn causes further acceleration in prices. Hyperinflation is often associated with wars or their aftermath, political or social upheavals, or other crises that make it difficult for the government to tax the population.
