Quote
Fourteen-year-old Austin Stokes said he was punched at George County High Thursday. Austin has Cerebral Palsy and is legally blind. He said it all started when the student who hit him called him a bad name.

"I was just walking in the breeze way, and I threw a Coke can at him and then he punched me," said Austin Stokes.

When asked why he threw the soda can, Austin replied, "Because he called me a retard."

Strange, who was the bully here.    Some how we have come down to this thinking that to speak words is reason for others to react violently .   So many excuses for violence today, so many excuses, Every thing from Turrets victims being beaten to death to the kids that are bulled committing suicide.

Yes I have heard of Fighting Words,  " You better smile when you say that Mister "

This poor kid needs to know that in life he will, as we all do learn to handle the spoken words of others that hurt our feelings. One cannot attack another physically  for an insult or put down.    Unless faced with a direct spoken threat, as in "I am going to punch your lights out", to be called a name, say hey fatso, or retard is just the others openion.

That and the fact that the name caller if you retaliate physically  may beat the living shit out of you.
