Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill’s husband used the U.S. Senate Dining Room to cut business deals selling tax credits tied to stimulus money, a whistle-blowing executive inside his company alleged on an audio recording exclusively obtained by The Daily Caller.
“The thing that irritated me about this was he [McCaskill’s husband Joseph Shepard] entertained these outside investors in the Senate Dining Room,†the whistle-blower said. “That’s where he closed the deal.â€
The whistle-blower, Craig Woods, was a longtime high-ranking official within Shepard’s business empire, serving first as chief financial officer and then as vice president and chief underwriter for Missouri Equity Investors LLC and JA Shepard Companies.

RCP has moved the MO Senate seat from 'Solid Dem' to 'Leans Dem' to 'Tossup'.
Hopefully Romney's coattails will help pull Akin over the line. I feel much better about this race than I did last month.
-
So, is this activity illegal, or does it merely appear illegal?
-
Nothing to see here just another corrupt democrat.
-
Aiken's gonna win this thing despite his early misstep and abandonment by the RNC.

Hard to believe, there are plenty of signs for each in this neck of the woods (Which is safely conservative but has a pretty fair number of blue dogs and traditional union democrats scattered around), but the radio is relentlessly raining 'Akin-sucks/I'm-wonderful' McCaskill commercials. She is indeed as crooked as a dog's hing leg and nothing that she teams up with her equally-crooked husband to bilk the taxpayers would surprise me, but Akin doesn't seem to have any media presence at all on the stations I monitor.
-
Tying in a little bit to DAT's post, about all I'm seeing is lame banners and posters in support of Akin.
Not much in the media on Akin.
He has truly been abandoned. If the ****stick had simply dropped out, we wouldn't be going through this bullshit right now.
But it is a breath of fresh air that McCaskill's crooked politics comes to light.
Again. :whatever:
-
So much corruption.
-
Finally some comeback from Akin in the last two days, one from him on TV and one from a PAC on the radio. Little and late, I'm afraid, the Obama-worshiping witch seems to have a bottomless well of campaign cash.
-
I never heard of selling tax credits. I learn some of the oddest things on this site.
-
Bob Beckel said something about it reflecting poorly on the Republican Party that Akin is doing as well as he is. Someone else pointed out that it's more of a reflection on how much McCaskill is disliked.

That's an excellent way of putting it.
Akin is a self-serving turd, but he's no criminal. McCaskill, on the other hand, is a self-professed criminal.

Not quite, she is too much of a thoroughly-practiced damned liar to ever own up to her own criminality and corruption, so the 'self-professed' part may be a bit inaccurate.

I'm referring to this:

Take it as you will, but in my mind when a person signs and submits a tax return to IRS, that's a statement of accuracy and completeness.
Claire lied about her taxes. And then admitted as much.
That's where the "self-professed" stuff comes in.

I read up on tax credits and the selling of them.
It seems awfully similar to one selling their food stamps, doesn't it? You get something from the gov't meant to benefit you (your company), and instead of using it yourself, you sell it to someone else.
What, if anything, am I missing?

It's kind of like that, but it isn't necessarily illegal in all cases, for instance the whole stupid Cap-n-Trade thing was based on transferable tax credit, really. Of course if McCaskill and her scamming spouse were mixed up in it, it was almost certainly not straight up.
