Well, you've got enough senses and composure to come through okay.

But its center's somewhere in Maine.

Did vesta survive?

Or your cookies?  Shook enought to get my attention and the beagle's too.  No damage.  Reports say it was centered in Lake Arrowhead, Maine, near Hollis.

This just the natural outcome of decades of liberal rule.

Shook my house in VT pretty good.  Funny thing, last time my house shook like that was back in the nineties.  I had two young boys at the time and I was sitting on the edge of the bathtub taking my socks off and my first reaction was "What are those kids up to now"

There was a three-point-something when I was in Texas.

We couldn't hear it over the bad music.

I live in Hollis Center Maine where this happened.....everything shook in our house for 10 seconds. It was crazy! We're all safe (three young ones and my wife). I would have never thought I'd be in an earthquake....crazy.

As I stated earlier, most likely it wasn't in fact an earthquake but rather her head exploding from trying to form a coherent, rational thought.

There was beer too.  That may have been a factor.

And slutty waitresses.

Our tackle-faced waitress girl came around and thanked me when I went there the next day for lunch.  She must have made some good money.

Darn you are good Sparky, you came so close to the facts.

I was on the PC when I heard a bang, I checked to see if some how my book case had fallen over.   Just seconds later the glass ware began to rattle, and I am yelled at Hubby in the other room,   "What the Hell are you doing""???

Having lived in California and having a few quakes , this was nothing like those on the west coast. The house did not shake in each room just a line that ran through the kitchen and living room, nothing fell off walls, power stayed on, dog didn't even notice  and cats stayed put.    I never gave a thought to an earth quake, my concern was my double wide is up on cement blocks and perhaps one had given way.  Next thought was, that my home was put on semi-wetland, was there a sink hole under the place ???

No vibrations in the floor, windows did not rattle, just one cupboard where the glasses and dishes hit against themselves.

Neighborhood was quiet, all normal, no one out asking questions.   Odd event, the spread of the waves could not have been but perhaps 1 foot wide when it was under us,  a 8-10 second abnormality.    Back to normal and prepare for the debates in 90 or so minutes.

I believe it is the Granite we sit on that makes these minor quakes seem worse then they are.  3 mile down and no straight shot as in the great quake in the 1800's in Ten. and other States that  rang Church bells in Boston.

In the last few years we have had a couple of these events in town and the area. People get worried as we are so close to the old SAC base that now fly in both commercial and military transports.  Depending on the weather and wind direction at times these huge fliers have to come very low and we keep our fingers crossed that the landing is successfull.

Sea, the lowest plane I have ever seen came across the parking lot of your work place,   the noise was extremely loud and even the shoppers and workers ran for the parking lot to watch.  for a plane that large even if up 3-400 feet it filled the sky.

How to tell the difference in how shock waves come about, earthquake, explosion of a chemical factory, explosions in a neighborhood gas station, or just the earth adjusting to changes that come from climate , are difficult to know.  As city people in Mass. know a gas leak can level homes for a full block and rattle windows 2 miles away.

Our own home settles , and they creak and groan as they do,  so who knows what that bang or rattle is ???????
