1 to a headhunter, 3 to jobs.

I was layed off last Thursday. I have been employed continuously for 33 years ever moving up in terms of position, responsibility, and salary.
Tomorrow morning I will awaken as an unemployed person. Someone who has become a "disposable unit". Along with 20% of Silverchairs employees.

I have to admit, I am angry. I am totally pissed off. I was in management and know that I came in 23rd out of 200 for the amount of unpaid overtime over the past 6 months.

All to be given the "honor" of being discarded, with a "generous" severance package of TWO WEEKS salary.

can he connect the two? Nadin could, she connects dots all the time.

If the dots are the size of the Disney World parking lot and the lines between them are as wide as an eight lane highway, then the DUmmies might see...........nah, forget it....they still couldn't connect the dots.

Someone who has become a "disposable unit".

As someone who has owned and operated his business for 25 years, I tend to pick up on phrases like this.

Listen primitive, you were always a disposable unit.  If for the last 33 years you had not made it a point to either make yourself into an indisposable unit (which it seems you did not) or to prepare yourself long-term in case you were disposed, then you only have yourself to blame.  Sounds like you didn't.  Oops!

BTW, this thread needs a link.

It's Bush's fault!

It's Bush's fault!

That reminds me of the long-ago-departed burdened primitive, the "TylerDurden" primitive.

The burdened primitive was one of these guys one sees walking around the aisles of car-parts stores, clipboard in hand and pencil behind his ear.  He'd been doing that for quite a few years; he was then approaching 60 years of age, and lived in Michigan.

Apparently at one time he'd had a good job in the oil-drilling business down in Texas, though.

During the earlier part of this century, he was always blaming Ronald Reagan for his descent from socio-economic status.

As it turned out, the burdened primitive had been laid off from there.....in 1978.

Whoops! There's a gadzillion debate threads to wade through:

dead thread, for the most part, but no DUmmy is blaming Obama, of course.
