Despite record-smashing fundraising by Barack Obama and his fellow Democrats, the party is losing to Republicans in the race to finance this summer's presidential nominating conventions.
The Democrats have raised only $25m out of the $40.6m needed to meet a June 16 deadline for funding the party's August convention in Denver. Republicans, by contrast, expect to hit the cash target for their party's September convention, to be held in Minneapolis-St. Paul.

fund raising is something of a zero sum game. the staggering amount of money that obama is raking
in has got to be costing dem fund raising efforts somewhere else. it looks like that "somewhere else"
is the DNC.

Maybe they can reduce the targeted $40.5 million. Their booze budget could drop by a couple of million dollars since it is unlikely that Fat Ted will be there. :fuelfire: :-)
