Libya security cut while Vienna embassy gained Chevy Volts
In a May 3, 2012, email, the State Department denied a request by a group of Special Forces assigned to protect the U.S. embassy in Libya to continue their use of a DC- 3 airplane for security operations throughout the country.
The subject line of the email, on which slain Ambassador Chris Stevens was copied, read: “Termination of Tripoli DC-3 Support.â€
Four days later, on May 7, the State Department authorized the U.S. embassy in Vienna to purchase a $108,000 electric vehicle charging station for the embassy motor pool’s new Chevrolet Volts. The purchase was a part of the State Department’s “Energy Efficiency Sweep of Europe†initiative, which included hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars on green program expenditures at various U.S. Embassies.

Corruption rarely comes home to roost this quickly. Of course the MSM is avoiding all mention of it...

No, but I predict you'll hear a lot about those terrible Repulicans cutting funding (http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/dana-milbank-forget-about-big-bird/2012/10/09/5f9a411c-1258-11e2-ba83-a7a396e6b2a7_print.html) to embassy security... by 4%.

Zing!
Dear Hillary,
Now that your "hire a gay at all costs, even if it kills him because the host nation looks dimly on homosexuality and assignment of a gay as the U.S. Ambassador to that country is a cultural affront in your Den of Multiculturalism" program has blown up in your face, how do you account for this travesty?
Granted, everybody who's been paying attention over the last couple years knows that the Chevy Volt is a POS motor vehicle that is much more harmful to the planet with its requirements to dispose of the battery that will die far earlier than Government Motors reports, but don't you think this is simply over the top?
$108K for a ****ing BATTERY CHARGER? Cancellation of a DC-3 aircraft? AYFKM?
Hillary, globetrotting has worn you out and put you away wet. It's time to put the feedbag on and trot off to a distant corner of the pasture. Putting a saddle on you any more just isn't worth the time, money, aggravation, and dead ambassadors.
Sincerely,
Eupher

Good article.
In the Obama economic stimulus program's Department of Energy loans, companies owned and run by Obama contributors and friends, like Solyndra's George Kaiser, received $16.4 billion. Those not linked to the president got only $4.1 billion. The Energy Department is far from the only federal program in which favoritism has heavily influenced federal grants.

While I have no doubt that cronyism and quid pro quo stuff goes on in Barry's Band of Merry Thugs, I have to say that cronyism will exist in some form or another in ANY administration - Repub or Thugocrat.
That's the essence of power. Who controls the purse strings controls the government who controls decision-making.
We might do well to keep this in mind.

Right. Even if Romney can get elected, not a lot will change if the Senate doesn't flip. They will still be a bunch of stubborn mad hatters, just madder.

That's not what I'm saying.
I'm saying that even in a Romney administration, cronyism will exist in some form or fashion. It's the nature of organizations themselves.
We can (and should) badmouth Barry and his Merry Band of Thugs for the simple reason that they're so blatant about their cronyism (more transparent gubmint perhaps?), but let's not fool ourselves into thinking that the same sort of cronyism won't exist in a Romney administration. It will be there.
