Had to give up the ranchin' business and buy a little place on a little warm water lake. "Toots" has developed breast cancer and my back is not gettin' any better. Took me 4 months for them to get my DSL hooked up! They actually showed up on a Sunday to keep me from goin' postal!!!
Sooooooooooooooooooo........... I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!!
-
Wow!!! Y'all have sure expanded the membership since I been outa the game! How's Coach doin'?
-
Hey there AR, your ears musta been burning, as we were just discussing your absence the other day. I am so sorry to hear of your wife's and your health problems.
-
We're all doing fine here, sir.
I've been gravely concerned for you, though; it doesn't seem as if you've been going through anything good.
Hang in there, and holler if you need a shoulder.
<<goes back a long long long ways with Allosaurus. A very long ways.
-
Welcome back, AR, you and yours are in the prayers of me and mine!
-
I've been tellin' "Toots" for weeks I needed to check in, but my internet has been kept from me since April! I moved into the new place the first of May and tried to get people off their ass to get me hooked up. Well, they kept tellin' me, even though they had DSL, they didn't have enough "ports" in my substation to accommodate my connection.
Well, after doin' everythin' except goin' down there with my ACP or my MAG, they finally decided to get it done!
I was tired of Horses, cows, donkeys and mules anyway. With "Toots" on my mind, I couldn't get my heart into it anyway.
I can pretty much throw my line in the water off my back deck in order to decrease the bass population, so I'm happy as a 3 peckered billy goat in a yard full 'o nannies anyway!
edited to add
Retirement will be great if I can get the apple of my eye healthy! Don't know what I will do without "Toots"!!!!
-
Never heard of ya.
Will keep your wife in my thoughts and prayers.

A lot of the 'ol timers here would prolly tell ya it's a good thing not to know me, heh, heh!
Whole bunch of new bodies runnin' around. Won't take ya long to figure out I'm usually the resident asshole. Just ask the morons at DU! They don't think much of me at all. That's the way I like it!
-
Who is the newb? :-)
-
Well, new to me, but anyone with over 900 posts is not exactly a newb. I'm just an old timer who's been outa contact for a while.
-
Sounds good. And good luck with Toots they are doing amazing things with medicine these days, amazing things.

Well, not really, since actually my definition of a newb is under a 1000 posts. Yer way above that! I was just givin' you shit, too!
Newbs will find out I'm really good at that! heh!

I was a bit concerned! Glad to see you back. Give my best to toots, I will keep her in my prayers.

Prayers for you and your wife. Congrats on the new house.
I would really like to see how you prepare some of the fish you catch.

I'm sure our female members will understand this a lot more than us male chauvinists, but I guarantee ya "Toots" appreciates it!

Yeah, yeah, yeah. You'd starve to death if ya actually had to grow yer own garden! How'd ya do?

It's about time you dragged your goat-smellin' ass in here! :-)
(Sorry about Toots. Prayers skyward, asking for God's healing hand with her. And your back. Like you said, you ain't gettin' any younger.)

I'll vouch for her on this.
The garden . . . we had an effin' groundhog in there. Several times. Cost me a buttload of squash and zukes. The damned deer were topping the tomato plants again, and that pissed me off. I did get some potatoes, and some brussel sprouts.
Next year . . . well, we'll be a couple of seasons in the townhouse that we're closing on in almost two weeks.

There's a cure for deer who get in MY garden. But if ya can't shoot the pests, get some gun oil and sprinkle around the perimeter. Deer seem to associate the smell with gettin' SHOT! Can't imagine why.
As for the ground hog, I got a windmill that sends vibrations into the ground and seems to work.

The problem is, around here, the chance of them getting killed by a car is infinitesimally high, compared to getting shot. I'm in the burbs, and this is Noo Yawk! ::) :whatever:

try the gun oil. It seems to be in their instinctual genes. DNA and all that jazz.

I wonder if that would help with squirrels.......

Doesn't seem to bother them. Trees seem to keep them outa harm. After all, unless yer shootin' a 12 gauge, it's a little hard to pick the little critters off without sendin' a bullet down town! Even a .22 can reach out and touch someone 2 miles away with the right trajectory.

That is why God invented the CO2 pellet pistol with laser sight. (but I couldn't get four feet off the back porch with one around here before I was cuffed and stuffed). These people are f_in nuts.

A had one of the deacons tell me, "If we hear any loud noises out there, we don't know a thing." I somehow doubt that the pastor would share those sentiments.
-
Welcome back AR. Sorry about beinglate to the thread. I hope everything goes well for you and Toots. Things have not been the same without you here.
-
I think that anybody gone for more than four months should have their post count reset to ZERO!! :fuelfire: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:
Sorry to hear about your wife!! Prayers being sent your way.

There's a reason I don't have neighbors within a hundred yards! They could get SHOT!

Naw, there's a few up here. It's tough to keep fish in 'em. Have to be deep enough they don't freeze solid in winter, doncha know! Heh, heh!
Actually, it's only about 15 miles from the ranch. This will be my first winter in 15 years I don't have to go out in 60 below wind chill weather in order to feed the glue factory!
-
welcome back, Allo!
-
"Toots" Is askin' me what color wig she should get, heh, heh! I told her I heard Red Heads are nasty! Gave her a good laugh!
