In order to buy this you have to believe that the miners look forward to re-electing Obama even though he is strangling their entire industry and killing their livelihoods with no prospect of finding a job anywhere else in the O-conomy.

You also have to believe that these same disgruntled miners frequent leftist websites and keep a reporter named "Climate Progress" on speed dial to share the tales of their woe.

BTW -- "Climate Progress" has a few other stories on coal, none of which are friendly so I can't help but wonder why he suddenly cares about coal miners keeping their jobs.

BTW BTW -- making a claim that allowing Obama a second term will cost you your job in coal is a promise made by BOTH parties.

I guess bunnies are quick. Was just looking at that OP, and was going to drag it over.
The wonderful site they cite, is a full blown greenweenie place.
They of course cite New Republic, as one of their sources.
I'm sure neither of them is unbiased. :whatever:

Coal company stock prices increased significantly AFTER the debate.  Looks like the coal industry is betting on Romney.

Coal workers are union.

But even when I was a union member we had a seperate fund for political donations. I think I agrred to .25 a week out of my check. We had meetings and vogted on who the money went to. Sometimes it even went to an "R."

Supposedly unions can only spend members money designated for politics on politics, but I bet they use regular union dues also.

Exactly.  They ALL are.  So, their supposition is that Republicans are coercing Unions?  Unions now support the Republican Party? [(D)U] No wonder Walker won his recall election.   :mental: Union support!!  :mental:  I knew the evil Re thug licans would pull something like this, I knew it! :mental: :mental: :mental: [/(D)U]

The Teamsters supported President Reagan

The Teamsters supported President Reagan

While that is true, they switched allegiances in the late 80s when an enterprising U.S Attorney for one of the Federal Districts in NYC managed to get a conviction against a higher-up in the Teamsters for something corruption-related.  Said U.S. Attorney's name?  Rudolph Guiliani.

The Teamsters supported President Nixon as part of an under-the-table deal that allowed Jimmy Hoffa to be released from prison, with a ban against union activity for several years.

I knew it was bullshit!

Quote
...[T]he Left has been foisting some claims that Mitt Romney’s campaign has been “forcing” coal miners to attend his rallies. Out in the battleground state of Ohio, some of the aforementioned miners got together with the press to ask the President to cut out the “absolute lies.”

Quote
Coal miners at the American Energy Corp. Century Mine said they want President Barack Obama to stop what they term the war on coal – and to stop spreading mistruths about them.

Miners gathered Friday afternoon to express their opposition to Obamas energy and environmental policies, which they believe threaten their jobs. Miner Mitch Miracle read aloud a letter the miners mailed to Obama that outlines some of their concerns.

Here’s some of the text of the letter provided to local reporters.

Quote
There are numerous false statements and absolute lies concerning our participation in this event, mostly started by a local shock jock radio host, the miners letter to Obama states. Why would you (Obama) lie about the 500 working miners who have signed this letter? We, the employees of the Century Mine would request you immediately stop these false ads.

This summer, Murray Energy Corp., parent company of the Beallsville mine, cut or relocated 56 workers with the closure of the Red Bird West mine near Brilliant. Murray also cut 29 mining jobs from The Ohio Valley Coal Co.s Powhatan No. 6 Mine. All of this was done, Robert Murray said, because of Obamas war on coal.

Murray then hosted the August Romney campaign stop in Beallsville, during which many miners appeared behind Romney as the former Massachusetts governor spoke about the need to protect coal mining jobs. In response to the assertion some have made about the miners being forced to appear with Romney, the miners made the following points on Friday:

As for anyone who claims the miners were forced to attend, those on-site Friday said these assertions probably came from discharged or disgruntled former employees.

Sure they were coerced .. NOT! Every industry in America should do what these great people did. Judging from this Video, obama is done in Ohio ...

Again, disconnect between union rank-and-file and the higher-ups.

Very few of us where I work intend to vote for the Magic Negro, but the national union STILL acts like Obama's shit don't stink.

The best way to know who to vote for is go by several union halls, and write down all the names on the campaign signs,  then on election day find those names on the ballot,

and vote for their opponent.

Ditto.

I'm related to some as well.

F Barry, F Dems, and F Liberals.  I've about had enough of all of them, and when I've about had enough, I start cleaning my guns and stockpiling ammo.

And I've about had enough for a few years now.   :argh:

The unions here are fiercely pro left (ALP). They splash a huge amount of cash in direct donations and indirectly via media PR. Ain't no way that comes from a special volunteer-only donor "fund".

The CFMEU (Construction, Forestry, Mining, Energy Union) in particular donates to and publicly supports the left. The irony of supporting the very people trying to shut down their industry in an attempt to pacify the greens that they rely on to stay in power seems to escape the rank and file of the union.

Also a large number of elected persons from said party are former or current union officials. Never done a days work in their life. Union "official" then career politician.

Some unions do force their members to show up at liberal rally's, and support liberal candidates. There is a report this morning that union leaders are fining people for not showing up at Elizabeth Warren's rallies, and not supporting her. If I was in that union I would tell them to 'F' off...

Coal-fired cognitive dissonance: Dems and unions have been intimate for so long that the unions cannot believe they are being stabbed in the back by their own sisters.   :???:

On a recent trip through West Virginia, I saw ubiquitous billboards, bumper stickers, T-shirts, etc. condemning the "Gang of Four."

From an article dated October 2nd:

Quote
Take a look at the signs in front yards in southern West Virginia and you will see: “Stop the War on Coal. Fire Obama.”

A nearby billboard reads: “Gang of Four, End of Coal. Jackson, Manchin, Roberts, Obama.” It’s a campaign ad for Republican Senate candidate John Raese. He’s referring to Lisa Jackson, EPA Administrator; Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.); and Cecil Roberts, president of the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA)
.
