I'm from Arizona. I'm not used to...seasons. You would think there would be a gradual change between them...but NO. Seasons change in an instant.
Iowa September: 80's for a high, 50's for a low.
Went all the way until Oct 5th. Now its 30 for a low and 50's for a high. it will only get colder from here on out.
Oct 4th. High 82 degrees.
Oct 5th: 52 for a high. 30 friggen degrees difference in a single day! 30 was the overnight low!
Oct 6th 55 degrees for our projected high. at 10 AM the temps have climbed from 30 to 39.
This is how the season's change here in Iowa. God just flips a switch.

Yeah, Illinois isn't much different from Iowa in terms of weather. You can go from T-shirts to sweatshirts in a matter of hours.

What are these "seasons" of which you speak?

Salt, pepper, oregano, clove, mint, etc.

It's similar here in WY.
It hit 82 on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon it snowed. Didn't stick, of course. I like the challenge of even a 50 degree variation from morning to afternoon.

The a/c was on two days ago........now the furnace is on. We'll have 28° overnight, and mid to upper sixties mid week.

Salt, pepper, oregano, clove, mint, etc.
Ah. Gotcha. THOSE I have heard of (and used).
Those named "Spring", "Fall" and "Winter"....not so much.

The switch has been flipped.
For a second there I was scared your grandmother had been taken to a government hospital.

A couple of weeks ago, we were in the mid to upper 90s, now here's our current forecast:
Saturday ... Dreary and feeling like Fall for sure. High temperatures will likely not get out of the 40s for many areas. Breezy north winds too will make it feel very chilly outside all day long. You can expect a lot of clouds and some scattered light rain throughout the day.
Looking Ahead... Still looking a lot of clouds around for your Sunday, Highs in the upper 50s. Temperatures will slowly warm to the upper 70s by Tuesday & Wednesday. Small chances for rain enter the forecast again for next Friday.
Pretty chilly for Texas!!! I HOPE that this isn't an indication of the winter to come!!

I think that was the year I drove from Orlando, with a stopover somewhere south of Atlanta, on to Illinois. I made it to my sister's house half frozen because the convertible I paid $100 for in Florida didn't have a heater. Found out the interstate had been closed that day due to the snow.

You drove to Illinois in a convertible with no heater in the wintertime. Your brain must have been frozen before you started out :cheersmate:

If it was a VW, the heater was like lighting a candle for warmth.

It was in the 70's when I left Florida on December 23. I had bought a can of coke in Kentucky but left it on the front seat beside me until I got to my sister's house. It was frozen, and I darn near was. I stood by her wood stove for 10-15 minutes before I started shivering.

Back in my teens one fall my dad sent a couple of my brothers , a couple cousins & myself to Chicago to pick up some trucks and drive them back home. This was about an 800 mile trip. My cousin & I being the youngest of the bunch ended up driving the crappiest ofthe trucks back. A ford cab over with no heater. We froze our keisters off for hours, then we both seemed to flash on the same Idea. We pulled over and took the top off the engine compartment which was situated between the driver & passenger seats. It was still damn cold but we weren't freezing anymore.

I don't remember the make, but it did have a heater. It just didn't work. It was a mid 60's car that had only been owned and driven in Florida.

I remember that it was pale blue with a white top and it was big. Paying $100 for it was cheaper at the time than flying from Orlando to central Illinois. I never even bothered to register it here in Illinois since I was only here two weeks before going to Ballston Spa , New York.

Where I grew up there was a coulee just out of town with an assortment of different types of trees. in the fall it looked like a rainbow blew up , I thought was a beautiful sight to behold.

My new place has these in-wall space heaters. It was a little cool this morning so I turned them on while I was getting ready for work. It felt so nice.
