It's a month before the election, and I think the primitives are getting downright boring.
From what I remember of the run-up to the elections of 2004 and 2008, the primitives although unified in their Hate and delusions, were more varied in expressing that Hate and living those delusions.
This year, it's the same two or three talking points over and over and over again, nothing new, nothing varied, from campfire to campfire.
General Discusson on Skins's island has of course always been a Wolkenkuckkuckensheim, a lurid, grotesque, writhing cloud-cuckoo-land, sort of an animated el Greco portrait that slowly twists and turns, as if melting, but at least in Days of Old, it had color. Nowadays it all seems simply black-and-white, and the pained and agonized movements repetitive.
I once compared--and quite reasonably so, I think--Skins's island with a small-town grocery store, the individual primitives as being different name-brands, and the campfires there as being products of those brands.
Now it's like walking into a grocery store with miles and miles of shelves, all of them fully stocked, ready for picking.....but the grocery store's full of nothing but the same black-and-white (generic) labeled cans of beans, nothing else, no shelf or aisle offering anything different than the next shelf or aisle. Just the same cans of beans.

I said "not sure." Here's why. While the primitives are coming into two or three discreet ways of voicing their anger, the paths at which they take to get there are a bit varied.

I suspect you're looking at it as a bunch of tributaries flowing into a main river.
That's a good analogy, but when I was on Skins's island early this morning, it was as if I were looking at a Brueghal painting of a horde of late-medieval Belgian peasants jostling and elbowing their way through, every single face just a round circle with two black dots for eyes, looking just the same, and just as indistinct, as the others.
<<supposes the absence of television as an influence in life makes the mind more colorfully imaginative; I dunno.
-
For the most part, yes.
You do have days like Wednesday night after the debate where they spew all these whacko theories about why things didn't go as they had planned. Should they lose the election, they'll automatically go to "stolen" whch won't be half the fun.

Correct, Coach. The River of Hate. The streams take different paths through the surface Earth to get there, but they get there nonetheless.
Look at it this way, USA4ME--we've 'been to the river.' We know how it floods. It's just the cause of from which tributaries it floods, that remains to be seen. I think some of the unterprimitiven are going to emerge as PoPs come mid-November.

I dunno.
The way the primitives have been, uncooperative in producing anything novel or new, I'm sort of contemplating canceling the Top DUmmies of 2012 altogether.
-
I think their alert system and shutting down of all dissent has made many of them afraid to post ideas out of the box.
-
No.
Just repetitive. They need some new material.
-
Gotten so boring, it's not that much fun to go shopping on the island any more.
A bunch of wash-rinse-repeat.

Uh huh.
They've all turned into.....cans of beans, the same beans, with the generic label announcing they're generic.
I thought of that when I was reading something I thought was by dear cali, but no, it was actually the addled pie-and-jam primitive. And then a bit later, I saw something I thought was the sparkling old dude, but no, it was actually the mineral oil primitive. And then there was the campfire that looked as if it'd been lit by Baghdad Bob the Prosense primitive, but nope, it was by [formerly] dear sweet old Lu.
When the oblate spheroid sounds like the Taverner primitive, it gets confusing.
The primitives used to be individually distinctive in each their own way, but now, they all look the same, say the same things the same way.
-
Yes they are, I can't explain why though.
-
The reality is they are saying the exact same things they were saying about Bush. So DU is like the tee vee during summer, all re runs.
-

Any more, it's like looking at dead-eyed fish in a barrel; they all look the same.
Atman's the last primitive standing, who franksolich can immediately and accurately recognize any more, apart from the other primitives.
And Atman's pretty boring in his own way.
Talk about an amorphous blob, the primitives all congealed together.

I think most of the contenders are actually embarrassed to be contenders.
The crazy bald dwarf is just doing her stupid fires, although at 3 foot 8 she's still head and shoulders above her competition.
Pam is laid up with gut rot.
No slutty daughter stories from Horse with no Brain.
LVL incommunicado.
PS Beth disappeared.
Taverner nodding off.
Bobbolink dead and liquified.
Wallduded cali in an opiate haze with a poorly-set broken leg.
We do have some funny ones in the boobyhatch (DUmmy Denninmi is hilarious), but the old reliables are living up to their deadbeat heritage.
-
I see them more as a Heironymus Bosch painting. Souls lost in the netherworld.

Yes, that's another good parallel.
But the picture has to be moving, the primitives luridly writhing and slithering and melting down the page.
That's the "picture" that pops into this mind when I look at the first page of General Discussion.

I'm surprised there aren't more meltdown threads over the recent poll releases.

They're coming.
Should arrive circa Monday at 8:12 a.m. or thereabouts.
They're coming.

I am still waiting to see one of those great bouncy's from the past. The new ones are so lame that a 3rd grader could right them..

They could write them also. :-)
-
I put no, because I think we have just seen them regurgitate the same crap over and over again. Ever once in awhile we see something new but that is a rarity.
-
IMO they have always been boring.

As a n00b, may I ask how you know this?

The primitives are utterly, boringly predictable.
Wait, watch, and see if I'm not right.

Doh!     :-) :lmao: :lmao:
