SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Californians woke up to a shock Friday as overnight gasoline prices jumped by as much as 20 cents a gallon in some areas, ending a week of soaring costs that saw some stations close and others charge record prices.
The average price of regular gas across the state was nearly $4.49 a gallon, the highest in the nation, according to AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge report.
In Southern California, the price jumped 20 cents a gallon overnight to $4.53 in Ventura. And in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area prices went up 19 cents to nearly $4.54. And it wasn't any better to the north, as a gallon of regular gas in San Francisco averaged nearly $4.60.
In many areas, prices have jumped 40 cents in a week as refinery problems have created shortages and helped send wholesale prices soaring. Some stations ran out of gas and shut down Thursday rather than pay those costs.
$4.52 for regular unleaded this morning at the station that I usually use. More at link.

A local radio station reported that some gas out there was now $5.21/gallon.
-
I read yesterday that some gas stations are closing because they can't afford to buy gas. There were some refinery problems in the California supply line. Even Costco was having trouble getting gas for their stations.

You know, that's really odd.
I just dashed into town to pick up lunch, and drove by the two gasoline stations there.
$3.69 a gallon.....down twenty cents from just three days ago.
This is NOT a large market up here; I think the petroleum companies would prefer to send their stuff to bigger markets, jacking up the price (because of the supply) around here, and keeping the prices lower in the big areas.

I paid $3.45/gal. Yesterday.

$3.35 here at Costco

I paid $4.35/gallon last night in south Orange County. Last week was $4.03/gallon.
-
It's $4.05 about 3/4 mile from me.
-
Gas has been dropping here. $3.83 to $3.63.
-
That's a huge jump!

I filled up last Friday for $4.03 a gallon. Today on the way to work I filled up at the same station for $4.39 a gallon. When I drove past this very same station after work today the price had gone up to $4.43. :thatsright:

I have a brainwashed female friend in California that thinks the price of gas is a minor inconvenience as to what other nations must go through.... :lmao:
She pisses me off. :-) But I still visit her a few times a year, I've known her a long time. I like the distance.
She pays as much for one month of rent for an 800 sq ft apt as I do for a years worth of property taxes.
-
My sister got back to me--she said that gas prices are that crazy, and a station a few miles away jumped 15 cents in one day. But, she said that once the refinery in question is fully running again (the power had been restored), she said that prices should come back down.
I think it'll take a lot longer for prices to come back down . . . say, after President Romney goes all Palin on drilling.

She represents the majority of numbskulls in this state who keep voting in the same genre of politicians who put the restrictions on the oil industry to keep them from expanding their capacity resulting in the shortages we are now seeing.

It's dropped .07 cents a gallon here in the last two weeks...down to $4.28 for Super Plus.
On the economy it's as much as 1.74 Euro per liter.

Yo, DLR--you think prices and energy problems suck now, just wait until the moonbats shut down San Onofre for good. They're also trying to shut down Diablo Canyon if they don't have anyplace to put their spent fuel.
Go ahead, assholes--do it. Just remember, ya'll depend on HYDRO power in the summer months, and all it takes is one shitty winter and one hot summer, and it's shades of 2000-01 rolling blackouts all over again.

Liberals never remember the past and never think about future consequences. It's all about feeling good about themselves right now.

I doubt she even votes. When it comes to world and local events she has no clue.
