Has anyone else wondered if the reason the President seemed so out of it
May be because he had a cold? Or wasn't feeling good?
He ususally has a lot more passion, and I doubt was because he just wanted to remain cool and reserved.

President Romney
If you think the debates moved us closer to that reality then you can expect that millions of people are going to wake up tomorrow absolutely energized and determined to make sure that is not going to happen.
Money or time.
Whatever you can.
Just sent $ 25. More later.
Just to quote a couple of the OPs.

Yeah, I assume Carl did this for the convenience of us wishing to consult Skins's island in the morning.

Romney won because he didn't live up to expectations.
Given his past history... the pundits and bloggers were expecting/predicting his ****ing up, inserting his foot in his mouth, saying something stupid or asinine, but that didn't happen.
Think about it like Susan Boyle on "American Idol"; everyone laughs and jokes that this person is about to fall flat on their face... but to everyone's surprise, they don't.
When a person is expected to lose or come out the fool, and it doesn't materialize, it makes (or gives the illusion), that people/voters misjudged or were wrong the whole time.
I still don't like the guy, but I have to give him credit for beating the odds.

Romney, for the first time in his life, was pumped with caffeine
And he nearly burst a blood vessel because of it.
Calm doesn't play well with liberal base that wants an attack dog.
But it works with independents.

Oh God.
So poor lil Baracky might've had a cold.

The only ones who were expecting Romney to do horribly were the ones that convinced themselves that a Harvard business and law grad, founder of a successful company, head of the US Olympic committee, and governor of MA was an idiot.

I can`t bring them all over but it is almost universal at the DUmp that Barry was the abject failure he is in real life.

Only one question remains after the debate
Did Romney convince you to vote for him?
If not - do you think other people were swayed because they don't have your insight?
Undecided folks may well have not watched the debate, seen all the commercials, bothered to research anything, etc.
Chances are, most people watching this first debate knew ahead of time who they were going to vote for and that did not change.
If policy has not already made up their mind what else is their motivation? Looks? Snark? Arrogance? 'Feeling' more comfortable about one person than the other?
YOU know already who you are voting for, if you didn't, can you explain - precisely - if tonight changed your mind how and why?

Maybe you just don't realize how smart Obama is
Case in point. Romney has been practicing for months and months.
If Obama had brought up any of the Romney crazy talk/47% stuff - he would be opening the door for Romney to
throw out his well prepared and practiced rebuttal.
Also, leaving Romney unchallenged - to ramble, it created a gold mine of flip-floppy-ness that the press can
talk about for the next week.

Oh, the Straight Story primitive is being disingenious here.
Of course most have already made up their minds, and a debate isn't going to change their minds.
That's a "given," and it's stupid to even mention it.
The debates serve two functions: the help the "undecideds" determine how they'll vote, and to charge up the base.

Looked Like A Draw To Me, Ladies And Gentlemen
Romney sounded sort of like St. Peter before the cock crowed, denying just about everything he has said or proposed, but really, who expected anything but a barrage of lies and trimming from the man? I would have preferred President Obama to have hammered harder on the lies, obviously, but he did enough to hold the critter in check.
Sin novedad.
:lmao: :lmao:

Indeed it is.

Next week's going to be even better, during the vice-presidential debate.

I am not a troll.
Been here eleven years.
I am very disappointed in tonight's debate. Far, far too many opportunities simply wasted.
Counting on the press and the Obama campaign ads to catch all of Romney's lies tonight is a poor strategy. Believing debates really don't make a difference is whistling past the graveyard.
The media has been slavering for an opportunity to run "Romney's back, it's close!" across the sky. Tonight, they got it. Romney looked like he wanted it more, and when lies don't get called out, they tend to stand.
I am not a troll.
This was not a good night.
P.S. "The moderator sucked" is no excuse. Lehrer was a train wreck, but Obama had a dozen opportunities to draw blood - big fat hanging meatballs over the plate - and he failed to swing at pretty much all of them.
-

You got the vice presidential debate, and then the presidential debate over foreign policy, and then the presidential debate over domestic issues.
I can't see where Bidet's going to do any good in the first one, or Barack Milhous in the second one.
The last one, Barack Milhous could recover a bit, having had the experience of this first debate under his belt, but I doubt it.

Romney, of course, lied about everything
His entire body language screamed "lie".
Other than eye contact, which he tried hard to maintain… He's a supremely accomplished liar to keep it, his stiffness, fake smiling and exaggerated hand movement was extensive. Sure signs of a practiced liar.
Most people can detect when someone else is lying, not just by having a command of the facts over the liar, but by inherently and subconsciously detecting the signs given off by the liar. Mitt Romney's body language was off the charts.
The President, on the other hand, kept his cool in spite of Romney's effort to take him off of his game with his lies.
I disagree with any argument that the President should have gotten emotional and gone off on Romney. Bullshit. The President understands that the "Angry Black Man" meme is a real danger for him. As always, he defeated it. Looks at the entire argument of the Hannity and Carlson last night with throwing that shit out there. After the President's calm, cool and fact based performance tonight, the Fox Angry Black Man crowd will look like nut jobs by offering that depiction again.
Overall, The President looked presidential, he didn't sound like a whiner over GOP intransigence, he never looked cheap, petty and resentful. His style was that of a mature adult.
Romney, on the other hand, looked like a child with his hand stuck in the cookie jar.
I'm sitting here, hearing the praise of Romney's aggressiveness in one breath from the pundits, while specifying that practically everything he said was a lie in the other.
Bullshit! Are they saying that the people actually WANT to be lied to? In praise of lies.
I'm sorry, but that is not how you win a debate.

That Obama was so easily countered and cornered tonight proves what a shitbag of a non-fighter John McCain was 4 years ago.
Around the office nobody likes Obama but everyone saddled Romney with the sins of McCain, i.e. too defined by the media, too passive, etc.
2008 wasn't lost...
...it was given away.
-
Obama's going to make a campaign stop in Madison WI tomorrow.
It is one of the few places on earth he can still draw a crowd.

Now wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute.
I asked the same question of my good friend Revolution just a few days ago, and he forgot to answer me.
Barack Milhous carried Wisconsin pretty good in 2008--so how come he's coming up there when he should be doing as most incumbent presidents have done, going out to campaign in states McCain carried in 2008, to increase his winning margin?
This is, uh, highly unusual, with hardly a precedent.

A Complete Disaster for Romney
by astral66
Romney spewed more lies tonight than any of us could possibly list, but the journalists will be poring over them for the next week, and matching them up with Romney's previous statements. Obama hung back and let Mitt hang himself. Mitt abandoned his platform, his campaign, his party tonight.
Obama wasn't aggressive, wasn't rude, wasn't smug. He gave his critics nothing new to put in a campaign ad. Romney has provided a wealth of lies to be used as contrast to his previous positions and statements.
I'm watching heads explode on MSNBC right now, but I think they missed it. Hayes and Sharpton seem to get it, the rest are disappointed that Obama wasn't an aggressive belligerent, as if he ever played that role.
I'm not worried, Obama has this.

Wait--I get it. Rev. Wright Tape and Romney Extreme Lies and Goading---Provoking Angry Black Man.
The Repuke strategy---Romney's lies, even suggesting that Obama was corrupt in giving money to energy contributors.....
Coupled with those fools Carlson and Hannity.....and a new Rev. Wright tape.
They thought they were going to get Angry Black Man.
And I mean, Romney tried. He tried to bait the President. And every single time, President Obama didn't take up the gauntlet.
Look back over the debate--Romney kept baiting, and baiting. And Obama took it. He ignored the jabs, and he took that bastard to a draw without breaking a sweat.
But it ain't over. It's an early round.

Exactly what were these lies Romney told? No one seems to want to break it down. We are to assume Romney lied because some DUmmie said so in the usual generic way?
I don't think Romney would have a reason to lie. The truth is all the ammunition he needs.
-
For just speaking, BO did OK.
As for the message, he dropped the ball.
I noticed a few times, BO seemed a bit tight, and his responces betryed it.
Can't get over the feeling that both camps knew the questions beforehand.
When Mitt managed to drag BO off line, there were definate stutter-stops.
Over all, not bad for either of them.
Is this debate going to be a game changer? Probably not.

Romney lied in the same way that Fox News has been lying since they started. No one yet has been able to say what lies Fox has been telling.

Yeah, it gets rather tedious and boring, all these Demcorat, liberal, and primitive allegations of "lies," without telling us what those "lies" are.
It's just like what we've been hearing since 2009, "the mess George Bush left us."
I've been asking since then what the mess was, that George Bush left us, but no Democrat, liberal, or primitive has stepped up to say what that mess was. Just the phrase, "the mess George Bush left us."
Any more, I just ignore such verbal diarrhea, just as I do with this tiresome "racism" thing.
-
They thought they were going to get Angry Black Man.
Ahh, I see. Curious msnthrope, do people say in the Aryan nation get a pass and called something innocuous too like 'angry white men'?
I'm so sick of the liberal lies and apologies. I'm glad in a slow, tired sort of way people are knot taking this bs anymore and calling it on what it is.
-
"the mess George Bush left us."
You know: gas at almost two dollars a gallon!
Millions unemployed, over 5%!
Unpatriotic national debt! Almost $10,000,000,000,000.00!!!1! And 40.2% of GDP!! source (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_deficit)

That's been driving me nuts since.....forever.
Things were going pretty good under George Bush, until Harry and Bela waltzed into Congress.
That's when all the bad stuff started--after January 3, 2007.

Now tell the truth and shame the devil, Frank.
Harry and Bela did not "waltz into office".
The keys were handed them by conservative ideological purists who stayed home rather than vote for RINOs. The fact that there were already the stirrings of what became the Tea Party after 2008, which had primaried out a few of RINOs already, mattered not a whit. Bush and his spending (Medicare Part D, a whole new entitlement, for example) had to be taught a lesson at the ballot box.
No, friends, that's how you get Harry and Bela, and Barack (by refusing to vote for McCain), and how we risk getting Barack again (by refusing to vote for RINO Rmoney).
Teach the lessons of the ballot box during primary season.
We made Romney work for it, and he showed us last night that he knows who's bringing him to the dance.
Here in Michigan, in 2010, we dumped a RINO candidate for the US House in the primaries and elected a good conservative. We're keeping him this year, but we're watching him to make sure he doesn't go squish. When we decide he's been there too long-- even if still doing a pretty good job-- we'll call him home.
-
