Title: Vacation (St. Augustine Lighthouse)
Post by: Rebel Yell on May 27, 2008, 02:08:26 PM
This was the hard work part of the vacation.  219 steps to the top, which means 219 steps beck down.

Here is the stairs.

The view is worth the climb, though.

A trip to St. Augustine is not complete without a trip to that lighthouse (which is also supposedly haunted, but that's par for the course in such a city).

I agree that it really is quite the workout climbing it, but the view is more than worth it.  :)

Can I go there and then sue under the ADA because I cannot climb the stairs?

I agree, although going to the fort in St Augistine was no piece of cake either when it came to climbing around and through the thing.

Luckily, it wasn't hot yet.  Only in the low 90's. :-)

Minus the Catherdral and going through Ripley's, looks like you did the same things we did.  I did enjoy looking at and going through the buildings along the old street and the architecture and history of what is now Flagler University.  They have a Columbia Restaurant in the old section for those who like Spanish (Cuban) food.

Speaking of that (hot), it's 64 degrees at my house right now....in north Texas....on May 27th....at almost 3:00 in the afternoon...this is unheard of.

We ate at Scarlett O'Hara's the first night, Pizalley's (excellent Italian) the next, and ate at the Sunset Grille on the beach the third day.

I wish it would stay that temp year round.  That would be perfect for me.
