Fox News just aired a live suicide following a car chase.
They showed it live.
Shep Smith apologizing to viewers. That's not enough. I'm very disturbed by seeing that and disgusted they'd not put it on delay. Sickening.

19. Get it right - yahoos
The feed WAS ON DELAY, 5 second delay, but it failed to work as it should have. Technical failures to happen, Stop being a stupid bunch of liberals and making something out of a situation that it isn't.
Seems you ALL failed to mention that this guy was a p hu ck ing criminal who had just carjacked an innocent person at GUNPOINT and then FIRED THAT WEAPON AT COPS AS WELL to try and kill them.
So get it right and stop being a bunch of p ri cks who live to make up stuff and spread disinformation and leave out ALL of the facts.

RedStateLiberal,

Have a lovely day.

I don't know about anybody else, but I love a story with a happy ending.

56. I just watched the post of this suicide that was locked by a jury
And your reaction, and that of many folks here, is cultural.
Two points.
1.- IN the US we have far more graphic things on the teevee machine that are scripted. I guess knowing the actor will stand up and go home makes it ok.
2.- This is actual standard fare in countries (yes in the evening news) that have less access to guns. Usually they are preceded by a warning... but that is all.
I have asked to myself many a times if we really like to live in a fantasy world, where things like this are hidden from people by both media and willful ignorance.
Yes, it is a disturbing piece of tape... it should be... but read point number one... so should our graphic portrayal of violence that passes for family entertainment.
Shep Smith violated an unwritten code of not showing this crap to viewers, that is all.
Uh, what are you doing watching Fox News, DUmmie?Trying to find something to complain about, naturally.

47. then why were you watching, for pete's sake?
Why would you watch a live pursuit in real time if you fear being offended by tragic outcomes? Don't you think YOU have any responsibility for your choices, or is it entirely up to news agencies to sanitize reality for you?

51. You're right. It's really irresponsible to show it.
they know better. But I wouldn't put it past them to pretend to not notice and let it pass. They're losing ratings while Rachel Maddow gains them. She's beating them now.

57. Two points
1.- I tend to tweet them when they happen so people can AVOID THEM.
2.- They are really easy stories.
And on a slow news day, news copters justify their existence.
gNads jumps in (not surprisingly) with a fairly reasonable (is surprisingly) response.

122. Sorry, but working for free at the online version of The Pennysaver
hardly qualifies as journalism.

I agree, but you will notice that even when she posts something that is somewhat reasonable it still has a tinge of condescension to it.A tinge?
I just noticed that she has 109,270 posts. She must be trying for DUmmie of the Decade instead of just DOTY.

Uh, what are you doing watching Fox News, DUmmie?:-) So they can get the closest to the real deal and then whine about it.
I saw a show earlier this afternoon on History about guns and ammunition. They showed portions of the North Ridge shootouts including the suicide and the other shoot down and bleed '. There were also graphic victim pics.
No outrage, no sick to my stomach, no wetting of any linen. As a matter of fact if it wasn't for this DUmmie thread I most likely would never had given it another thought. Funny that.
I was honestly surprised the suicide was so clean. Maybe it was a low calibar weapon, or something. Compared to Saw, this shit was tame to me. I would have honestly thought a gunshot to the head would have been WAY more graphic from what I've heard.

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=4fe_1317534483Who is that congressman from Pennsylvania who ate the barrel of a revolver during a press conference back in the 80's? Robert Budd Dwyer, I think. I saw that on liveleak, too. More gore than either one of those two.
This is a video of a guy committing suicide in an interrogation room while in custody. It's graphic, but there isn't much gore in this one either.
The DUmmies use to want dead bodies to be shown on TV when President Bush was in office, as long as the bodies were American soldiers.
I saw the video... it wasn't horrible. You could barely see what happened. Stop being a bunch of pussies.Works for me. :cheersmate:
This from MSNBC (2004).....so......A pmsnbc poll?
Two-thirds of Americans support TV executions

I can't believe the cops didn't pat that guy down, for crying out loud.
What do you mean? From what I understand, the chase started because he held some woman up at gunpoint. I haven't read what he was doing before the armed auto robbery happened. This is Maricopa County. Car chases happened all the time when we lived there and they didn't end well for the offender. The guy has probably been holed up in tent city numerous times and didn't want to go back.... ;)
