Parallel universes, along with time travel, action-at-a-distance, etc. will eventually fall into the proverbial historical dustbin.

But Sliders ain't about the real world. Where would it be without TV? There's a separation between scifi and the real world.

Think about this. Suppose you want to travel in time (either direction) and invent a time machine. You sit on your sofa and set the dial to 10,000 years in the future - and push the button. Assuming the machine could work, where do you think you'll end up? Ask me, and I'll tell you........(http://www.conservativecave.com/Smileys/default/popcorn.gif)

You have to make sure the time machine is calibrated for where the planet will be from an astrological perspective.  Otherwise your ass is sucking cold vacuum in space.

Exactly! Stand still in your livingroom, and while you think you are motionless, you're actually moving in at least seven different directions - at last count. Try navigating that!

Maybe. In some alternate universe. :fuelfire:

I'm an avid lover of science fiction, but the operative word is FICTION.

Some things are probable though yet to be proven. Some things might be thought possible though not likely. Some things, like parallel universes, are just entertainment.

A long time ago  I read a short story about a little boy or girl throwing a tantrum, and if they didn't get their way they were going to stay in one spot until they did.

The kid didn't get their way so they stayed where they were, but the earth  kept moving around the sun, and the sun continued it's path through the Milky Way, and the Milky way continued on it's way from the galactic center.   But the little kid stayed right where they were.

Oh I don't know here, do we not all live in a semi-paralle universe inside out heads ?????   Do we not dream of interacting with those that have died years before.   Some have dreams that seem to become a warning, don't take that flight, or are rip roaring nightmares of things that could have happend but didn't, sort of like the outcome of an experience while awake -----A darn that was close time.

We have our awake mind and our asleep mind, in some people the two interact,   sleep walking and talking in our sleep.   On the other side are those who are awake but day dreaming.

This Anti matter is interesting, Neutrinos that we try to understand the piece of a split atom that no one knows where it went to. Is it possible that all atoms have this bit of anti matter within them undetected until the loss in weight is noticed when atoms are split ???

I still believe we are unique in this cosmos, the chances of 2 planets the exact same miles from a sun identical to ours and the progression of both planets and inhabitants at the same rate with the same results bothers me.   The idea of finding a planet with elephants on it is outside my understanding.

I can go for the Visitors we have as coming from the future much easier then beliving they come from outer space.
