Mom thrown in jail for letting kids play outside—huh?
http://blog.sfgate.com/sfmoms/2012/09/23/mom-thrown-in-jail-for-letting-kids-play-outside—huh/
And then there’s the woman in Texas who saw two kids, ages 6 and 9, playing on the front lawn next-door and decided to call the cops because she thought the kids shouldn’t be playing outside unsupervised. It turns out that the kids’ mom was actually sitting outside in a lawn chair but when the police arrived they didn’t believe her story. They threw Tammy Cooper into the police car and into a jail cell.
:wtf2:

I think I'd have a few words with that busy body neighbor after I got out.

Lucky she didn't buy them Happy Meals too, she'd be facing the death penalty. I guess the only approved safe activity nowadays is smoking dope.
Give Obama another term and Michelle will see to that....

Me too.
I bet the neighbor is probably a dummie who hates her evil rethuglican neighbor.
Mom's got a neighbor like that across the street. Bitch calls the law if someone parks in front of her house. She had her entire front yard concreted (is that a word?) so she could tell the cops that anyone parking there is blocking her driveway. It was real funny when she called the law cause the ambulance was parked there one day.
She pissed dad off mightily one day years ago. So he threw 5 pounds of bird seed all over her front yard one night. Next day she had birds everywhere. She called the cops and when they came they laughed thier asses off. Said they couldn't arrest wildlife. That was funny as hell. Wished I would have been there to see it.

The mom in question is suing the police department and the neighbor. She was on Fox last week.

Great way to dummy down a child and make them a sheep is to expect them at 8-9 years to only leave their home supervised.
This woman must have been my neighbor at one time and my kids must have driven her crazy. While I was washing clothing, vacuuming floors making beds MY 4 rug rats were taking advantage and hanging out the windows, climbing on the roof, sitting 20 feet up in trees. Food needs to be cooked, with just one child while you are tending the stove that one child may be out poking at a rattle snake in the road. You have more then one, good luck, unless you own a herding dog to keep them together too bad if YOU need to pee.
So Now we have all this crap of over weight kids, kids that stay in the house under watch of an adult. What to do, send them out to play or allow them to sit like lumps on a log in front of compute games or the TV.?
My Mantra with my boys was if bleeding come in the kitchen back door, do not bleed on my carpets. Big family's are a problem today, I do remember buying sleigh bells to place on the doors at one time to know if one of the kids had escaped while I was busy changing the new baby's diapers.
Hardest job in the world is to run a home an insure the kids live to become adults. Darn one never knows when a kid will get up in the middle of the night and decide to go visit a friend 2 blocks over. So when you awake you find the child gone missing and find them asleep under a bush in the front yard. Heart stopping moments, the crib is empty and there is the baby asleep in a laundry basket in the closet.
Who ever this woman is and what good her intentions were has not in her life time raised any kids. OR perhaps she has and something unfortunate happend to them. Much like a person who let a child out to play in their own yard and come up missing.
We never know and should try to understand her reasons for her worry about the neighbors children. Never know what sets people off in strange ways.

Good for her. I hope she gets legal fees, too.

Sorry if I bump this topic. The nosy neighbor, Shelley Fuller has sued in the past as a plantiff.

I'm glad I grew up in the 40's, 50's, 60's instead of today. I wouldn't have ever known my parents. Momma whipped me sometimes and daddy kicked my ass almost daily.....and I rambled miles from home at an early age every chance I got. All prison offenses now.

Things have changed for the worst.

Cops should not have taken her into custody without actually themselves seeing a violation being committed. Dumbshits deserve to be sued.

I wonder if there is a final outcome to the case.

Don't know about TX, but CA has a law requiring home sellers to disclose known problems. I wonder if it would be necessary to disclose, "Neighbor is an equine anus"?
Sometimes such lawsuits can go against PDs (http://law.justia.com/cases/federal/appellate-courts/F3/189/808/526537/), depending on particulars,
