Rant: What the heck happened to Sears and Kmart ?

Bought a top of the line craftsman wrench last week (about 40 bucks).

I used it 3 times...on the 3rd time the wrench broke.

Took it back to Sears today, walked in and was (basically) told "too bad"

Geez...I thought they guaranteed their craftsman tools...I guess not.

So..on the way home I thought "Well, I need to stop at Kmart and get that 50 gal Garbage can on sale (that's on wheels).

Park..go into store...no garbage can...asked front desk.

"Oh, some man bought all we had" (47 of the $#%$& things)

I was pissed but held my anger and was very polite to the Lady

To Kmart: You know, if you're going to sell an item at cost or below cost, can you put a f*cking limit on how many you sell to one person so some poor bastard doesn't make a trip down to your store for nothing. ?? You probably think "They'll shop anyway and buy something else"

NO...it just pisses off people and gives you a bad name as a shyster.

End of Rant

Well, the primitive's first mistake was buying Craftsman wrenches.

Bad move, there.

Dresser-S/K rocks; ain't nothing better.

It's a reasonably large campfire, but most of the comments are by the meaningless and irrelevant lumpenunterprimitiven, the faceless lynch mob, and not worth bringing over.

Especially the comments that promote non-Dresser-S/K brands.

Primitives don't know shit about tools.

while I won't speculate on their tool knowledge it appears that at least one or two on the thread know a bouncy when they see it.

DUmmie is full of it.  :bs:
Craftsman will replace their good stuff at no charge.
They do have a cheaper make/model that does not carry the warranty.
DUmmie went the cheap route, and is now lying about it.

If it says "Craftsman", and it's a hand tool, it will be replaced at no cost regardless of age or how it was broken.

Craftsman power tools never had a lifetime warranty.

The DUmpmonkey did not have a Craftsman hand tool.

K Mart even had their own line of tools that had a lifetime warranty before they merged with Sears. I think it was BenchTop or BenchCraft .

Attn primitive:  Did the sale say "Limit: X Amount per Customer?"  If not, then let me explain to you the basics of retail.  Cash in hand means product out the door.  Got it, idiot?

Oh, now you know that's too complicated for a primitive to understand.

There is one in my old neighborhood.  It's a run-down area... the competition is Patel Brothers and General Tire.

I have never had a problem taking a Craftsman hand tool back to Sears for a replacement.  I've only ever broken two of them, and I put heavy use on them.  In my opinion, Craftsman is only slightly less durable than the Proto stuff that I have.

My father recently took a Craftsman lifetime warranty hose back to Sears that he bought in the mid-1970s, while living in Arizona.  He showed the Sears attendant his receipt from way back when, the guy pulled a new hose off the shelf, and my father went on his way.

He did the same thing last month with a shovel he bought in 1978.
