Please put what is cut and pasted from DU (or elsewhere) inside a quote box in your posts. This makes for easier reading. We don't want lurking DUmmies to get confused.

ENFORCED SUGGESTION NUMBER TWO:

Please be sure that the screen-name of the primitive shows up somewhere in the body of the thread.

Not the names franksolich baptizes the primitives, but their official Skins's island screen-name.

Sometimes when one is copying-and-pasting a bonfire from Skins's island, he grabs only the lower part of a primitive comment, omitting to bring over the primitive name, number of posts, and date of the comment.

The purpose of this is that it shows up in the search engines, when a primitive is looking for himself.

The primitives, such idolatrous narcissists, always looking for themselves, and for nothing else.

But we want the primitives to come over, so as to be illuminated.

Of course, the example above is not an actual quote and does not have a link, so I wasn't breaking any enforced suggestions by not providing a link.

I know, I know; slow learner.

Anyway, I used to always type the "quote" thing in its brackets, and then for here, also the "size" thing.

I always typed them out, by hand.

Then I discovered something

When one is on the "post reply" screen, there's a bunch of icons near the top of the page. I usually never pay attention to icons, looking for text instead.

The penultimate icon on the bottom of two rows makes

If one puts the blinking vertical line in between the ][, and punches the penultimate icon on the top of the two rows, the "A" with arrows, one gets , to make the font in quoted material larger, and more readable.

So one has

, which is what one wants.

And then one simply puts the blinking vertical line in between the and , and inserts the copied text.

Really. I never knew this.

You can use the quote icon (second from right; lower row) to automatically add the quote tags, or you can type them in yourself.

[quot e] at start.....[/quot e] at end with no space between 't' and 'e' as I have done on purpose, to get it to show up here (no need for red either).

Lauri, if you still can't get it to work, let me know. Frank or I will do it for you if necessary. We value your DUmmie posts. :)

i know! we have a bunch around the house... and this one winds up being the only free one in the evening upstairs. Macs are good for some stuff, but message boards seem to have problems with them...

plus, i'm watching this terrible American Idol and wondering why ... why am i doing this to myself??
