I am the 47%
I am one of the 47%. I am definitely going to vote for Obama. So will my mother and her husband. My husband and my 21 year old son plan to vote for him as well. So will my sister and her adult daughter. That makes all of us part of the 47%. What do we have in common (besides a desire to see Obama serve a second term)? According to Mitt Romney, we are "dependent on government" and "believe that (we)are entitled to health care, to food, to housing".
Let’s analyze these claims one at a time, starting with health care. I have employer sponsored health care that covers me, my husband and my 21 year old college age son, so none of us gets healthcare from the “governmentâ€. Obamacare will allow my healthy son to stay on my insurance for five more years, but I am not sure that counts as being “dependent on government†for his health care. My mom’s husband is covered by his aerospace industry employer. My mother, a NASA retiree, is covered by NASA, Medicare and her husband’s insurance. That makes her super-insured. Is Romney trying to claim that her Medicare is a government handout? Does he think that federal agencies like NASA should not provide retirement insurance? My sister gets insurance for her and her two kids (one college aged) from her employer, a petrochemical refinery. She has a union and good benefits, but no one could call her insurance a government handout.
On to food. None of us gets food stamps. On the contrary, we donate to area food banks. None of our kids gets free school lunches. The only “free†food we get is that which we grow in our own gardens. Romney and Ryan may complain that the food my mother buy’s with her Social Security check is a government handout. But she is over 70 years old and worked her entire adult life paying into the Social Security system, so I tend to think of it as retirement income.
My home is paid for. My mother’s home is paid for. My sister is still paying a mortgage on her new home, but no one helps her make her payments.
I guess you could say that we are “dependent on government†since we use the roads and if we have a fire, we call the fire department and the public health department sprays for mosquitoes when West Nile is a problem and we rely on the FDA to make sure the food (which we buy with our own money) is safe to eat. But we aren’t getting any government services for “freeâ€. All of us pay taxes. We pay income tax. We pay sales tax. We pay property tax. We pay fuel taxes and alcohol taxes. And when all the taxes are paid, we give to charity, too---
Come to think of it, we are not dependent upon the government. The government is dependent upon us. And we want to be sure that our tax dollars are spent wisely. We want to see our taxes spent on roads and disease prevention and good schools and clean air and water and national security and all the other things that government is supposed to provide. We absolutely do not want to see our tax dollars diverted into the accounts of people who are so rich they will never be able to spend all their money.
You know how I define the so called “47% We are the ones who want to have some control over how our country is run and our tax dollars are spent. We are the ones who think America is worth investing in. And Romney/Ryan despise us because we are too smart to buy their "trust us, we can pay for those tax cuts and still balance the budget" line.
1) If you're part of the 47%, the government sure as hell isn't dependent on you.
2) If you're part of the 47%, there is no such thing as "your tax dollars".
DUmbass.

DUmbass didn't pay attention and is to stupid to figure out he/she/it is one of the stupidest of the 53%

Greenbriar is dependent on your generosity.
As to the school lunches, I thought the rich folk got free lunches to stop makings the kids of deadbeat DUmmies from getting an inferiority complex.
You beat me to it by posting this. I was trying to nadin the "I am the 47%" to see if it was plagiarized.

I think the 47% she is talking about is 47% of the country will vote for Barry Big Ears, not the 47% that pay no taxes, although many of that 47% will vote for 0bama.

Does she even know what the 47% she talks about is?

I am the 53%
I pay income taxes. And property, sales, gas, and other taxes as well. I am a middle class, white American and....
I hate Romney's Guts! I will NEVER EVER vote for a sociopathic BASTARD like Willard Romney. There is nothing he can ever say to change my mind.

Hope you enjoy paying taxes because if 0bama gets 4 more years you will get to pay a ton more.

Plus a hell of a lot more for gas and food thanks to QE3.

The democrat party could print "Name not important - we'll fill in the blank after the election" on the ballot and still get at least 47% of the vote.
I'm afraid that if we don't win this one, it's over. With the way the northeast votes and the Pacific west coast, the democrat party has 200 electoral vote before any votes are cast.

Don't remind me.
Yeah we are so much better off now than in 2008. :banghead:

Yeah me too, if Romney loses than America loses. There won't be anything left to salvage when 2016 comes around. :banghead:

By 2016 there will be 30,000,000 more illegal aliens newly legalized democrat voter on welfare that will vote to keep the free money.
-
The MSM is hoping to make Romney's realistic comments on the non-income-tax payers as some sort of "gotcha moment" proving he is really EVIL and UNCARING about po' folk.
The real point: many of the 47% are retired people who have worked hard and might not want America to become completely parasitical. And another chunk of the 47% might have enough self-respect and ambition that they would not support MAObama either.
Romney therefore needs to frame his comments: such people are not ipso facto immediately pro MAObama. A good percentage might not like being on the dole.

The sweat of our labor belongs to the Government. They only let us have some of it because of their benevolence. If they need it all, they'll take it.
20,000 new armed IRS agents.
Seizures of your 401K
Tax rates from 28 to 75%
First thing that they'll go after is the guns. The Hildabeast is already working on this.

Try harder, DUmmie.

Probably not the most politically astute thing for Romney to say, but it is the truth. Is there any doubt that the overwhelming majority of the 47% of USA citizens who pay no federal income tax will vote for Dear Leader? They aren't giving up their freebies for anything.
The more I study this election, the more I'm convinced Dear Leader will win. There's just too many stupid people, many of whom believe themselves to be intellignet, to overcome. They'll be worse off in 2016 than they are now, but the possibility they'll understand why is virtually nill. As long as they can get the gov't to fill in the missing pieces, they'll continue to walk down the same dead-end road they're on now. The rich will get richer, the poor poorer, and the middle-class will diminish, all brought to you courtesy of the Democrats while blaming the Republicans.

Like a manic depressive, I swing between optimism about how obvious it must be that BIG BRObama will lose, and at any moment the deepest abyss of pessimism about the overwhelming indolence, stupidity, and hatred of present-day America among a large percentage of the electorate will drown my optimism.

<<resolutely steady about Romney-Ryan.

Yeah, I had to sit back and watch while that greaseball used car salesman from Arkansas beat an honorable man, G. H. W. Bush and then go on to beat another honorable man, Bob Dole, all the time wondering how the U.S. electorate sank so low so close on the heels of Ronald Reagan. It's hard to swallow. This one's still close, though. I feel there's a good chance we can pull it out, especially if Romney does well in the debates.

Today, Romney spoke truth to power and every internet DUmmy went crazy. :rotf:
Right now the rich DUmmies are bragging about massive wealth and the poor ones are lying about phantom wealth.
It's HILARIOUS !!!

I'm pretty sure that RSquared will pull this one out. Yeah, the Obamessiah will get a lot of those moocher votes, but the total number of those votes will be a lot smaller. I read something today that, with a bunch of black preachers telling their flocks to "just stay home" on election Day, that may be all that's needed to swing Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida into the RSquared column. (What if it caused Pennsylvania to switch?) That right there is 60-70 EVs that Obama had in '08 that he won't have in '12. Throw in Indiana (which is going to switch) and RSquared is a lot closer.
Remember that Obama was supposed to have foreign policy as a strong suit. He managed to get an Ambassador killed on his watch, and preliminary indications are that there were warnings of the attack which were ignored, in the days leading up to the attack. Major foreign policy ****up. The economy continues to suck, but there's a lot of Americans who don't think that their laziness has anything to do with them not having a job. It'll be close, but RSquared will pull it out late. Expect at least one solid state to switch unexpectedly.

If all were lost, there'd have been no Chick-Fil-A thing this summer. The repeal vote against Gov. Walker would have been a success.
There are a lot of stupid people out there, but there's still plenty of reason for optimism.
-
At the moment, I am among the DUmmie 47% but I be damned if I'm voting for the witch doctor in the whitehouse. I vote for what's in the best interest of the country, not my 'own best interest'. What's in the best interest of the country is in the long run also in my best interest.
-
I think you may be wrong, it may be wishful thinking, but I think we may win this yet.
Don't get me wrong, I hope Romney wins. But in a normal world where citizens actually want to work rather than living off the gov't dole and people vote their wallets rather than for handouts, this wouldn't even be close. If we keep going down this liberal road, it's going to be the USA in name only.

http://lasvegas.cbslocal.com/2012/09/17/7-million-in-gold-bars-found-in-reclusive-mans-home-month-after-he-died/
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A Carson City recluse whose body was found in his home at least a month after he died left only $200 in his bank account.
But as Walter Samaszko Jr.’s house was being cleared for sale, officials made a surprise discovery: gold bars and coins valued at $7 million
Samaszko was “anti-government,†Carson City’s Nevada Appeal reported, and a few conspiracy theory books were found in the home along with several guns.
“He never went to a doctor,†Glover told the newspaper. “He was obsessed with getting diseases from shots.â€
Samaszko also had stock accounts of more than $165,000 and another $12,000 in cash at the house.
Glover said he wants to start selling off the gold as soon as possible. The IRS wants a share of the total, he said, and the case is relatively simple other than the agency’s involvement..

Exactly. People are waking up from their slumber and they are offended.
When do we get to take to the streets burning, looting and killing? ...OH...I keep forgetting, we're civilized.

Walker's attorneys said the charges were trumped up by prosecutors bent on defaming their client. Walker has pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy, fraud and filing false tax returns. Despite a 142-count indictment filed in June, Walker was re-elected last fall to the Senate seat he lost in 2002.

This douchebag was indicted and imprisoned for extortion while he was mayor. He got out, got his rights restored, ran again, and received, IIRC, 46% of the vote!!!!! Democrats. There's a f'n reason I live in Evans.

I am in now way saying Romney wins easily but folks Barry does not have this locked up.

Karen, it was literally going way too fast at the time, I'd read a page full of comments and it would say 50, 70, 90 plus comments were just added :lmao: I just went back and checked and there are now over 167,000 comments, it was no where near that last night when I 1st saw the video.

I would like to think Romney can win but he'd have to run a near perfect campaign to over come all of obama's tricks and help from the MSM. Even though I though he spoke the truth, many of the mush minded independents will now swing to obama. It galls me that Romney will get slammed for this obama got away with a lot from 08, like the bitter clinger comments and how under his energy plan bills would skyrocket etc
-
I am liking the fact that the conservatives in this country are fighting back. That makes a huge difference.

Chick-Fil-A is run by a strong CEO with values. Gov. Walker is also strong in his convictions and values, Romney is not either of those two things. He is running a Milquetoast campaign at best and his policies are very close to Obummers taking all but one issue off the table (economy).
People are wondering why they should vote for a liberal Republican when they can get the real deal.

The revolt had nothing to do with the Chick-Fil-A CEO. Walker, while strong in his convictions, also relied on grassroots. Romney's choice of Ryan, his speaking out on the attack on Libya, even his "leaked" quotes show that he's not the milquetoast that he might have been. He duked it out with some pretty powerful hitters in the convention.
You may be 100 percent correct, and I may be 100 percent wrong, but I still get the sense that there are a lot of people in this country willing to crawl over broken glass to kick 0bama out of office.

Agreed on this point.

This is the Romney that I would like to see more of, the one that was attacking his Republican opponents mercilessly.
