My favorite, The Green Berets.
I watched it again yesterday and not just because I love John Wayne.
I was 7 yrs old (the oldest of 3) in '68 when Mother took us kids to see this movie. At the time we were living in Ft. Bragg. As a widow, even though it meant living quite a ways away from the rest of the extended family, the base offered us the military benefits my Father had earned for his service. Some times she would take us to Pope Air Force Base and we would watch the paratroopers jump. Pretty cool stuff for us kids back then.
I selected this part of the movie for a reason. If you think about it, it's the same reasoning as to why we are in Iraq. Inject modern times into this movie and you'll see that not much has changed. Media bias still thrives, but it's been exposed for all the BS it spews thanks to sites like FR and even CC.
I thank God every day that I'm an American. I was fortunate enough by His grace to have been born here, but it's the American military who sustain my/our freedoms.
To those here who serve/have served, thank you. You are appreciated.

I agree and Hi5 to you. I have an autographed picture of Capt. Nim (George Takei) When He signed it I told him my biggest regret was that I couldn;t have John Waynes Autograph on there too since it was a B&W picture of them talking after they interrogate the VC lining them up for the motor attack.

I have never really picked up on this genre. Im going to change that... on my way to fill up my netflix queue with a few of these great movies.
However, I do like the war epics, like The Patriot, Saving Private Ryan, We Were Soldiers.....

I saw this one just prior to joining the Active duty Army and the 101st Airborne Air Assault. Its about the Australian SAS.

Yeah thats one of my favorites too Kev. :cheersmate: My Dad tells me that is one of the more realistic Viet-Nam movies he's seen. He also told me that he actually was on that hill a day after all that happened, and said that the carnage that he saw was one of the worst memories he has of the war. Body parts all over the hill, heads, arms, legs strewn about. He said it was completely senseless because the NVA took the hill back again shortly after!

Being basically a luddite, I haven't graduated to embedding video clips, but my vote would be for...."The Longest Day"....and "Midway"....

All sides don't have to be uniformed for it to be a military movie.
