It is an ad suggesting going to a hospital with union nurses.

Want a better chance to survive a heart attack? Check this out!

Hey Steve, a better chance of *avoiding* a heart attack is to lose a few (dozen) pounds,

exercise regularly (after a checkup by your doctor),

eat a sensible diet ('diet' meaning everything you put down your neck, not just fad with a name on it), one that your doctor/dietician can help you plan.

The best way to avoid a heart attack is to be evaluated by a cardiologist for blockages and other problems.  Prevention is not limited to diet and exercise.  Heredity plays a role in your heart health.

Remember:  A stent in time saved mine.

Oh my.

Is the big guy subconsciously preparing himself, and us, for something?

Damn, he just won't give up chasing after some free ride through life, in this case jumping aboard the social security disability gravy train.

But this seems a pretty dangerous game to play--people after all sometimes die from heart attacks before they can get a single check--and I advise my fellow Nebraskan to not play it; the risks are too great.

Just best to start now dropping about 200 pounds, and humbly and diligently doing his job at the police department, and in a little over nine years, Omaha Steve'll be sitting pretty, what with social security retirement and the generous pension the taxpayers of Omaha give city employees.

It's not that long to wait, Steve, nine years.  Nine more years.  It's not forever, nine years.

For the neckbearded weeper, it may as well be a century.

He'll never make it through another nine years.

Nine years?

He'll be lucky to make it through another nine chapters!

If I remember correctly the famous runner Frank Shorter died from a heart attack while running. He seems to be the picture of health to everyone at the time. Also he should remember what just happened to the actor Michael Clark Duncan after two months past his heart operation.

Hence the caveat for the exercise 'after' being checked by your doctor

My recipe.....

Smoke, drink, eat lots of red meat and cheese, and if the attacks happen just shrug them off! You'll make it to 73 like I have, and you won't regret missing all the fun you could have had.

A highschool classmate didn't smoke or drink and died of a heart attack at 17. My first wife's father (a great man) had quit smoking and died of a heart attack at 51.

Grandpa smoked and drank all his life and died a natural death at 90. My Dad smoked and drank all his life and died a natural death at 91. A couple of decades ago, I told myself that 75 would be a good time for me to go.
