Paul Ryan is so confident of victory, he's running ads for his House seat!

Paul Ryan is set to air ads in his Wisconsin House district as part of a re-election effort he hasn't really been waging, the AP reports.
Under state law, Ryan is able to make a play for another term and the vice presidency, which is why he can air the ads which, as the AP notes, go up the same week that the Mitt Romney campaign ads start in the state.
There are two possibilities on the strategy - one is that Ryan is hedging his bets in case the ticket doesn't win in November. The other is that it's a way to spend extra ad dollars that could be helpful to the ticket, but which aren't usable for a presidential run.

For such smart people they know nothing. Paul Ryan needs to not only win the VP race, but his house seat. If the dem wins then that means the dems get his seat, if he wins then Scott Walker gets to put another repuke in his seat. That will be really sweet. Like salt poured in a fresh wound. :lmao:

I don't remember that same complaint made of Joe Lieberman when he ran as Algore's VP and for his senate seat.

Considering the two bolded parts, I'd guess that Ryan is using his commercials to piggyback on the Romney Ryan commercials.
Wouldn't Ryan have to spend the money he raised for his house run to campaign for the house seat? Why let that money go to waste?
