Breaking.... Hacker Group Claims To Have Romney's Tax Returns
Last edited Wed Sep 5, 2012, 01:35 PM USA/ET - Edit history (4)

Source: Current

http://mashable.com/2012/09/05/hacker-ransom-romney-tax-returns/
Mitt Romney’s tax returns are reportedly in the hands of a team of hackers who plan on releasing them publicly at the end of the month unless a ransom is paid. Like that would ever happen even if true.

The group allegedly obtained the files from PricewaterhouseCooper’s Tennessee office on Aug. 25, in what was described on PasteBin as a Mission Impossible-like caper:

Romney’s 1040 tax returns were taken from the PWC office 8/25/2012 by gaining access to the third floor via a gentleman working on the 3rd floor of the building. Once on the 3rd floor, the team moved down the stairs to the 2nd floor and setup shop in an empty office room. During the night, suite 260 was entered, and all available 1040 tax forms for Romney were copied. A package was sent to the PWC on suite 260 with a flash drive containing a copy of the 1040 files, plus copies were sent to the Democratic office in the county and copies were sent to the GOP office in the county at the beginning of the week also containing flash drives with copies of Romney’s tax returns before 2010. A scanned signature image for Mitt Romney from the 1040 forms were scanned and included with the packages, taken from earlier 1040 tax forms gathered and stored on the flash drives.

The files are to be released to the public on Sept. 28, according to the PasteBin document.

I saw this a short while ago... wanted to wait for it to show up on another site first... it's now on Current Tv's site... looking for others...

obviously, this is not cool the way they got the info, if the story proves legit... but, this will at least keep the issue alive as a topic of discussion in the MSM...
Yes we know. If it's on the interwebs, it must be true. :panic:

43. This highlights why it's important for Romney to release his taxes.
He's open for blackmail if he doesn't. And it doesn't really matter if the story is true or not, it points out the vulnerability.
You primitives are pathetic.

Mere possession of said documents, if it was true, would also be a felony.

Another thing, gang--what's PriceWaterhouseCooper doing with them?  Are they Romney's tax lawyers?

Let's assume for a second they actually did get Rmoney's tax returns.

So?

I doubt any of the little shitstains could decipher the tax code well enough to know if some crime had been committed. If it doesn't look like a welfare application they'd be lost.

Leftist idiots believing their own fantasies went and committed federal wire crimes to blackmail someone who pays a ton of money to lawyers and CPAs to cover his ass.

You have just made a good argument for why 0bama should release his transcripts, and Eric Holder should releases the F and F documents. They are both wide open to blackmail now.

I'm sure Geitner was happy to give his boss a copy of the returns. They didn't find anything illegal, but they found things that they could spin to the ignorant and try to make Romney look bad with. I'm convinced that is why they want him to release them so bad.

This is just the cover story of how the returns will get made public.  In reality, one of Obama's minions just copied the documents from IRS files and released them.

I hadn't thought of that. Interesting theory, so they "leak" them to the media then they pretend that that is the first they saw of them and they run with whatever bullshit they prepared months ago to run with.

Ayep that's what's up. Watergate II. We already know because of the Klintons that the WH can access returns. Spin up a bullshit story about some hacker group who don't hack but burglerize, get a good month to start the media salivating and hungry. Release the edited returns a month before the election and watch the show while they crawl and slobber over each other to make it much worse than it really is. If you edit and fabricate then the campaign will be busy refuting rather than campaigning.

I do not see anything here about individual tax services or anything that leads me to think PWC had much to do with Romnay as a person.

I am seriously worried about what the 0bama campaign has cooked up for right before the election. I am certain they are holding onto something that is bogus, but they will release it and by the time Romney can counter it, the election will be over.

The left tried that shit with Scott Walker, but luckily enough people were paying enough attention to find out that the person in question was another man also named Scott Walker.

If Bain Capital was in Boston, why would the tax teturns be in the Nashville office, when there are offices on both Boston and Cambridge?

It makes it more believable that the hicks in Tennessee would have lax security to allow this to happen. You know, tin cans on strings tied to windows and that sort of thing.

I doubt it. I expect its a basement dweller and his Cheeto-eating buddies trying to scare up some virtual money.

I really want to know how they misspelled 'Republican'

I suspect it is one of the more popular ways to do so that we learned about from DU - Rethuglikkkan, Repugnican, etc etc. And I also suspect that the hoaxer(s) are more than a little familiar with DU itself.

I used to work in that area.  I'm not familiar with that specific address, but it's in the same general area (within walking distance) of Nissan USA's national headquarters now that they've fled California, and the Ford Motor/FMCC office I worked at.  It's a mixed-use area with lots of shopping, restaurants, office buildings, import car dealers, and a handful of expensive condos -- your typical suburban sprawl.  It's not your average 'industrial office park' area with low rent either... that's not a cheap zip code.  Just a guess, but it is probably an office building with 24/7 security who may do some long-term document storage for clients, unlike some of the more specific document storage specialty places like Richards' that is downtown who may not have around-the-clock guards.

It might be a possibility that Romney's tax returns wound up there but I don't know enough about PCW to comment.  I have no idea what PCW actually does, so the entire thing could be a fabrication.

Everyone of any worth has an accounting firm that takes care of all financial records and the storage thereof.  There is no need to have some stray hard copy of a tax return stored in some third party's basement (so to speak).  It just doesn't make any sense.

PwC Denies Romney's Tax Returns Were Stolen From Its Offices

"We are aware of the allegations that have been made regarding improper access to our systems,” said Chris Atkins, the managing director of US public relations for the firm. “ We are working closely with the United States Secret Service, and at this time there is no evidence that our systems have been compromised or that there was any unauthorized access to the data in question."

80. WAKE UP!!! aka: I hope this story is true!

Last edited Wed Sep 5, 2012, 04:29 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1)

You want to see how weak Democrats are? Read the comments below this story, the comments above this one. You'll see...

"I hope it's not true.." "I can't condone this type of action..." "Stealing is stealing and I don't want anything to do with it..." "I hope it's a false-flag operation..." "We're not that kind of people..." "That's no way to win an election..." etc.

WHAT A BUNCH OF SPINELESS PANSIES you commenters are - just like the Dems in congress. And Obama for this first 3.5 years.

Do you think the Repugnicans would be saying this stuff if they got secret Dem documents? NO WAY. We'd hear comments like:

"I wish I was in on that..." "I hope they get those docs to Fox News ASAP..." "I'll email thousands of FB friends those docs..." "We'll nail the Dems to the cross with this info..." etc.

The Repugs want A FRIGGIN' WAR because they're better funded, have more weapons and stronger soldiers. And the electorate are the soldiers I'm referring to.

Rove, the Koch bros., Cheney, Romney and every other high-powered Repug would do, has done, and wants to do something like this and much, much worse. And they'd do it at the drop of a hat. They're trying to suppress the vote of millions of Dems (via "voter ID" laws) in order to win, they bought the SCOTUS in 2000 (by buying the elected officials to put them in place) to stop the vote count, they've bought the voting machines across America (most notably in Ohio in 2004), they make robo-calls to Dems telling them voting day is Wednesday, and every other dirty trick in the book. I'm just giving you the egregious stuff I can think of off the top of my head.

After four years, I didn't hear a single Dem mention the party of "no." BO hasn't said a word about how he's been stymied by a party intent on getting him out of office - even if it destroys America, which to some degree it has. I haven't heard a single Dem mention what devastation the Repugs have wrought by calling out their policies and their voting record. And they've done nothing about black-box voting. WHAT PANSIES!!! For these reasons, I stopped giving them money after mamby-pamby mealy-mouthed Kerry lost. His non-response to the Swift Boat and flip-flop ads cost us the election and got two neo-con SCOTUS justices installed.

I hope these break-in guys have the goods and I hope they nail Mittens to the wall with it. I'm sick of our team being walked on, taken advantage of, and beaten to a pulp by Repugs with gonads, who are up against touchey-feeley Dems who drink warm milk before they go to bed with their binky and suck their collective thumbs.

And for those of you who think this "Mission: Impossible" couldn't be done, that they'd need "passwords and credentials, etc." WHAT YEAR ARE YOU LIVING IN??? Hackers get in to computers much more secure and dramatically higher level that these.

I hope these guys got the goods, and I hope they're doing it for altruistic reasons and not blackmail.

Either way, the only way we're going to take back Congress and do something good for this country is if we grow some muscles, get in the mud and fight these guys mano-a-mano. I've been waiting for 15 years for the Dems to grow a spine, and last night, I saw Deval Patrick and a couple others show some, and this morning I'm seeing there's some people somewhere who have a very large set - if they really pulled off a caper like they're claiming.

More fake but accurate?

If fake, let it ride until the week before the election then release the real thing.

If real, let it ride until the week before the election then file freedom of information lawsuits and start pointing fingers at Obama and anyone else in his administration that "might" have been involved.

Leave this pimple alone until it forms a huge head......then pop it.
