It's Eerie -- The Global Climate Disaster Is Happening Right Now... and Humanity Is Just Pretending It's Not Happening
We are going to pay a terrible price for this charade.
August 28, 2012 |
There are no comparisons to be made. This is not like war or plague or a stockmarket crash. We are ill-equipped, historically and psychologically, to understand it, which is one of the reasons why so many refuse to accept that it is happening.
What we are seeing, here and now, is the transformation of the atmospheric physics of this planet. Three weeks before the likely minimum, the melting of Arctic sea ice has already broken the record set in 2007. The daily rate of loss is now 50% higher than it was that year. The daily sense of loss – of the world we loved and knew – cannot be quantified so easily.
The Arctic has been warming roughly twice as quickly as the rest of the northern hemisphere. This is partly because climate breakdown there is self-perpetuating. As the ice melts, for example, exposing the darker sea beneath, heat which would previously have been reflected back into space is absorbed.
This great dissolution, of ice and certainties, is happening so much faster than most climate scientists predicted that, one of them reports, “it feels as if everything I’ve learned has become obsolete.†In its last assessment, published in 2007, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change noted that “in some projections, Arctic late-summer sea ice disappears almost entirely by the latter part of the 21st century.†These were the most extreme forecasts in the panel’s range. Some scientists now forecast that the disappearance of Arctic sea ice in late summer could occur in this decade or the next.
As I’ve warned repeatedly, but to little effect, the IPCC’s assessments tend to be conservative. This is unsurprising when you see how many people have to approve them before they are published. There have been a few occasions – such as its estimate of the speed at which glaciers would be lost in the Himalayas – on which the panel has overstated the case. But it looks as if these will be greatly outnumbered by the occasions on which the panel has understated it.

13. Of what, exactly?
Overpopulation is a eminently fixable problem.
Seriously... if overpopulation is a "symptom", wtf do you think the "real" core problem is?
They have been screaming for over 20 years that we are doomed, yet life is still flourishing.

A few decades ago, all climate indicators pointed to a new ice-age.
I guess it was averted due to gorebull wormining.

DUmmies, put your money where your mouths are and kill yourselves--you'll be saving Mother Gaia!

5. The cause is over-population.
My reading of history indicates that whenever someone speaks of there being "too many people", they actually mean "too many other people". They never seem to volunteer to mitigate the problem. In some cultures, the aged voluntarily go off alone to die; I know of no other cases of voluntary death for the purposes of relieving population pressure.
7. Too many rats in the cage. Yup!
The last society that began by likening populations to rats ended by building Auschwitz.

...and just what have the DUmmies done about glowbull warming? Have they stopped driving? Have they turned off the electricity to their houses? Have that stopped heating and cooling the houses? Are eating only home grown raw vegetables? NOPE! YOU ARE EXPECTED TO CURTAIL YOUR LEVEL OF LIVING. The DUmmie elite get to keep right on living the lifestyle they're accustomed to simple because they warned YOU about glowbull warming.

I'm doing my part for globull warming.
I've turned the fuel setting on my diesel truck up from "stun" to "KILL"!

If climate change is real, and if population is really a problem, then soon climate change will take care of the population problem.
I'll start believing that climate change is real right after I see Al Gore shut down his mansion and move into a tent so he can "live green." :rotf:

the atmospheric physics of this planet
I stopped right there. Second paragraph. Any time the word "planet" is used without some reference to astronomy, you're dealing with a wild-eyed moonbat.
It is as reliable an indicator as the non-sensical term "carbon footprint".

The mansion that uses more electricity in a day than the average house uses in a month ? All the big proponents of being carbon minimal, are carbon maximal. What's good for me isn't for thee ?

Exactly. If those that are so panicked about climate change actually created less "greenhouse gases" than anyone else, I might actually start to wonder. The DUmmies whine about the 1% all the time without ever realizing THEY are the ones electing those 1%-ers to office.

Question for all you DUmbasses...
Since our carbon outputs have declined dramatically since the 70s and 80s as far as emissions from vehicles and other areas why are we still to believe the events you obsess over (if true) are being accelerated?

Shhhhhhh now you'll give them coniptions and they won't be able to sleep 14 hours a day.
Just wait until they figure out when the earth tilts on it's axis that that warm ocean will cool right off again and that the ice will grow....just like it does every winter.
BTW DUmmies do any of you watch Deadliest Catch? That global warming/vanishing ice got so bad this year they had to shut down fishing a couple of times because all that vanished ice came so far south that it kept dragging their gear around and trapping the boats. It came so far south it covered the fishing grounds for weeks at a time.

The captains said it was the worst ice they have seen in over 30 years, how can this be possible ?

Global climate change is why. :-)

We had the solar hookup added to our house, but won't have any solar panels for awhile since they are so pricey. Not like that matters at all though. We will still have two V8's sitting in the garage.

They've only been recording this since 1978? Sheesh. That's like 5 seconds in the grand scheme of things. How do we know this hasn't happened 100s of times over tens of thousands of years?

Another worthy question for TOTUS, or the empty chair, or the empty suit in the empty chair.
