(snip)
President Barack Obama was greeted with fleeting applause and extended periods of silence as he offered profuse praise to soldiers and their families during an Aug. 31 speech in Fort Bliss, Texas.
His praise for the soldiers — and for his own national-security policies — won cheers from only a small proportion of the soldiers and families in the cavernous aircraft-hanger.
(snip)
The audience’s reaction was so flat that the president tried twice to elicit a reaction from the crowd.
“Hey, I hear you,†he said amid silence.
The selected soldiers who were arrayed behind the president sat quietly throughout the speech.
CNN and MSNBC ended their coverage of the speech before it was half-over.
(snip)
The White House’s video-feed cut off 10 seconds after the president finished his speech, before the audience’s reaction overall could be gauged by viewers.

The fact that he dares got to Ft Hood just amazes me.
When they had that little work place violence incident, he didn't even bother making a statement for several days, meanwhile Bush drove himself there right away and quietly visited with the injured and their families.

I happened to catch some of that because I had CSPAN on from watching the RNC the night before and I just happened to have the sound down. What I noticed was a throng of young men armed with virtually every digital capture device known to mankind trying to record the Big O. It was interesting to watch them and be able to see pretty clearly what they were getting for results. Amazing technology when you think about it, that it is so good that you can see what is being recorded on a phone on TV. I still remember trying to watch a football game on a 13' black and white with rabbit ears. If I hadn't known better I would have thought it was snowing the whole game but it was in Miami.
As I said I have no idea of the sound levels as the volume was turned way down and I don't hear so well as I use to.

Contrast this to the way soldiers reacted to Bush... Talk about a pandering fail on the part of Obama. He's gotta know at this point its time to stick a fork in him.
I love this part:

What did you hear, Barry? The sound of your term circling the drain?
Btw, he was at Bliss, not Hood.

 I blame the OP. :-)

If that doesn't tell you what the military thinks of him, nothing will.
I, too, caught some of the speech. All it was, was a bloviating display of how 'HE' got all the troops out of Iraq, and how 'HE' saved the flood waters from reseeding, and how 'HE', not Moses, led the Jews out of Egypt.
:rotf: :rotf:

You are correct, sir. It's my error. What does an old USAF C306703-C know anyway? (http://www.conservativecave.com/Smileys/default/huh.gif)

I don't think he built that...

I don't either. But you know obama does ...

The warm reception train is grinding to a halt.

Which is why CNN and MSNBC left the speech about halfway through. According to other eyewitness reports, many lines which should have been "applause" lines were followed by chirping crickets. O-) Certainly the claims he made about bringing an end to the war against terror were not received with any enthusiasm.

Captain Zero has a 70%+ unfavorible rating in the Military. So why wouldn't there be crickets when he talks? I can guarantee this, though. They are going to love Romney. Just like they love Bush. The simple reason being that Romney and Bush care about them. obama doesn't care about the troops, and they know it.

The military members are pretty astute about figuring it out when a CinC is full of shit and doesn't really care about those he is in charge of.

Isn't that the truth.

Hi,
I am reading again that the administration is making it very difficult for the military people to vote again this year.
no kidding....wonder why?

Well, When he arrived on a friday for what is a four-day weekend for everyone in the DOD, thereby taking at least 2 of the days out of that holiday weekend for the entire post. It definitely showed he did not care about what happens to anyone in the military unless it makes him look good (OBL mission, Pullout of iraq, etc.).
I'm suprised (and relieved at the same time) that he didn't try and visit Fort Bragg, since it is in the battleground state of North Carolina. God I hope no one from his campaign reads this! I can see my Columbus Day going away if that is the case!

What's the matter, Doc, don't want to see a pony show with the President?

Well, I look at it this way--my Friday commute is teh suckage because of "da Prez" in Portsmouth, and I'm working on Columbus Day. And maybe Veteran's Day. Maybe even Thanksgiving if things REALLY go to shit.
But I look at the bright side--I'm paid by the hour, not by the month.
