The Nevada Tax Dodge: Apple, Microsoft, and....?
Microsoft:
In 1997, Microsoft et al. lobbied to reduce Washington State's Royalty Tax from 1.5% to .5%, a threefold reduction. This wasn't low enough. The company decided to open a small Reno, Nevada office to dodge the tax completely.

Yet, with a handful of employees in a small office here in Reno, Apple has done something central to its corporate strategy: it has avoided millions of dollars in taxes in California and 20 other states.

"we love the people and we want to help them" propaganda the 1 percenters are constantly foisting on the public.
they *don't* want to help anyone but themselves. Avoiding $4 billion in state taxes that fund education while giving a fraction of that for scholarships.

So we've come to the point where libs can't even tolerate you living someplace else in the US unless it first meets their apporval based on their definition of "fair" which is really just code speak for "making money for me so I don't have to work."
Our recent visit from BanTheGOP is further proof of this.
When the dems fought to preserve slavery one of their complaints was the refusal of other states to enforce the Fugitive Slave Act.
It seems they still grouse about other states allowing their forced laborers escape.

So, they are bitching about businesses or people moving to lower taxed areas AND bitching about companies outsourcing jobs AND bitching that corporations don't pay a high enough tax rate.

These ineffectual keyboard monkeys can bitch all they want. Businesses will do whatever the analysis guides them to do, no matter how much CommunistsUnderground gripe. Tax evasion may be a crime, but tax avoidance is not.
BTW, did John Kerry ever his pay his Massachusetts yacht tax? Or is that still docked in Rhode Island?

You're dealing with idiots that want corporations (if they are allowed to exist at all) to produce green products/services that sell below cost, pay a living wage where the CEO makes slighly more than the janitor, give employees a minimum of three months paid vacation, pay high taxes, and will enable common people who invest in the company to have a terrific return in order to suppliment their retirement.
Com'n, how hard can that be?

Jealousy, envy, whatever you want to call it: one sees this in the primate cages in the zoos. Ape X has some bananas, and is attacked by Ape Y, who steals the bananas, rather than going over to the feeding trough on the other side.
In essence the impulse is the same as that of a criminal, whose brain is wired to defend himself with the (to us) illogical thought pattern that he has a right to take what you have because he does not have what you have.
Am I calling the impulse of Dems to seize and redistribute the wealth of successful people criminal?

The problem with leftism is that they will never change their position(s) on their ideology. it can never be the fault of the ideology. The reason the ideology always has and always will fail is the ideology. However, this cannot make it through the true ideologue and therefore its failure is due to other factors. The USSR failed because of the mean old USA. Cuba fails because of the big old mean USA. Northern democrat controlled cities fail because the south offers better business conditions. It goes on and on.

I read a column (can't remember who wrote it) and his belief that if liberals are seriously exposed to conservative ideas, a majority of them would change their views.
I believe this because I was raised in a democrat voting union household and changed my views in my mid-twenties. :cheersmate:
