Yeah as much as I enjoy taking credit for other people -- scratch that -- other geniuses work, I did not build that.   NASA scientists and the U.S. military (I am sorry it burns burns burns your eyes to read that) did.

A few other things "we" built...

Yes, all of those were built by groups of individuals and they are marvels of technology, but they were funded by the US government. America built those things, so the government can take credit partially, as well as those who built and operate them.

We fund the government, the American people "built that".

No, not really.

One of the constitutionally described jobs of the US government is to provide for the common defence.

They could not do that without taxpayers. The government funds nothing, taxpayers fund the government which then divies out those funds.

The Government gave contracts to private companies to build them; payed for by the tax payers. The Government didn't build anything. They never have and never will.

Dear DUmpmonkies,

Maybe "we" built that.

But Neil Armstrong may have single-handedly saved the moon landing on several occasions. Look it up.

Excuse my French, but when it comes to politicizing the death of Neil Armstrong, kindly eat a bowl of dicks.

Yes, all of those were built by groups of individuals and they are marvels of technology, but they were funded by the US government. America built those things, so the government can take credit partially, as well as those who built and operate them.

They were only funded by the Government AFTER private companies came up with the designs and pitched them to the U.S. Government.  Had there not been the private (i.e. non government run entities) corporations coming up with them...they wouldn't have been built.
