I was thinking this thread was going to be claiming that we hate Neil Armstrong. It wasn't.

I may be wrong on this, but I'm guessing that freepers are NOT holding candlelight vigils today.
Teddy showed us a few things.
First, you can **** up, or you can **** up on a grand scale...and if you do, in the eyes of some people, nothing you do from that point forward will redeem you.
I'm a Christian, and as anyone who's read my posts knows, I really don't give a shit if you are or not. It's my decision, my belief, but that said...I lean toward the "let he who is free of sin cast the first stone" logic.
Mary Jo Kopechne's death was a "defining moment" in Ted Kennedy's life, but it didn't define the man. I'm going to assume that as he approached his final breath, that July 18, 1969 day in Chappaquiddick passed through his thoughts one final time. He either died in peace or he didn't. He couldn't change the events of that day. He couldn't bring Mary Jo back from the dead. He couldn't add minutes, or seconds, to the span of his own life. Three years ago today, whatever weight Ted Kennedy carried on his shoulders over that day...crushing or none at all...was permanently lifted and he went wherever you think you're going to go when you die.
Today can be a day for remembering the good that he did accomplish, or condemning him one more time for Chappaquiddick. Some folks will engage in a mix of both.
He was human. He ****ed up. He did accomplish things in his lifetime that continue to make some lives better. He was human. He wasn't perfect. Just like me. Just like you. On this day, the third anniversary of his passing, that's what I have to say about Ted Kennedy.

So let me get this straight, a dog riding on top of a car in the early 80s that survived is a bigger crime than leaving a human woman in a car to drown. :banghead:
Ted Kennedy is a scumbag and he should only be remembered for the coward that he was.

8. Amerigo, I think you have perfectly defined the difference between liberals and
conservatives.
Conservatives don't change. They latch onto an idea and hang onto it no matter how much evidence comes up to prove it wrong. And because they never change, they don't understand that other people can, and do.
Therefore, in conservative eyes, if a man commits a crime he's a criminal for life. He might spend decades after that crime doing great and even heroic things, but a conservative simply won't see that.
Conservative Christians claim to believe in redemption, but they don't even know the meaning of the word. In my eyes, Senator Kennedy was redeemed well before he died.
Anyway, thanks for a great post, and for the reminder of this sad anniversary.
What a load of shit. Libes hold any transgression no matter how small against a conservative forever, yet they forgive liberals of murder. :banghead:

I'm not dancing on his grave, nor am I celebrating him, though apparently with DUmmies you have to be doing one or the other. He's dead, and thus beyond my opinion of him one way or the other.
As far as "he wasn't perfect" goes, "nobody's perfect" if something you say if you drop an egg on the kitchen floor or put your t-shirt on inside out. When it comes to letting someone drown in your car while you run away to figure a way to cover your ass, "nobody's perfect" doesn't quite cut it, and as Freeper mentioned, conservatives are damned by liberals in perpetuity for far more minor things that have happened in their past. Screw them and their hypocrisy.

If we are holding candlelight vigils today, it's for the passing of a great American--Neil Armstrong. :taps:

The SOB left a human being to die in a car when he had every opportunity to go get help. His political career was more important to him the Mary Jo's life. Sorry but I'm hoping the fat bastards roasting over a pit in the lowest levels of HELL .

This retard has no idea what being a Christian is. If he/she/it/Pat was a real Christian, he/she/it/Pat wouldn't be a liberal.....and he/she/it/Pat just threw the first stone. The stupid Retard.

Amen.
Edward Kennedy was a mishy-mouthed selfish piece of human crap who deserved to be in prison. the fact that the leftist worship this dead scrap of crap speaks many volumes about what kind of people they all are: Pure evil trash.

Exactly.
I guess liberal means believe anything you want and still call yourself a Christian............(or a contortionist).

Satan rams an extra big pitch fork up Vast Teddy's balloon knot on his anniversary.

He did accomplish things in his lifetime that continue to make some lives better.
He accomplished nothing. All he did was waste the life that God had given him. :maddernhell:

Absolutely it did define him. You can't think of one without thinking of the other.
Actually the person we should be remembering today is Mary Jo Kopechne herself. We all owe her a great debt. By her death she kept that worthless POS Kennedy out of the White House. Here's to you Mary Jo :usflag: You didn't die in vain.

Are you serious? Really?
The dead girl in the car... was just an accident?

Shouldn't you go to jail if you **** up on the level Ted Kennedy did?

The reason TK didn't go to jail was because his daddy had the judges in his back pocket. He was one corrupt felon.

They tried to compare Laura Bush's accident with Dead Teds in an attempt to make some weak moral equivelancy to it. The only thing thse two had in common was there was an accident. Ted Kennedy fled the scene of his accident while the future first lady took whatever blame might have came her way and stayed there.

Still waiting for a Conservative principle to be proven wrong.
Still waiting......

My sentiments precisely. H5!

He was a strong swimmer who wantonly refused help out a weak one.

I still remember Dead Ted, shortly after he drowned the bimbo, going on TV to make an emotional statement.
He wore the most phony neck brace I've ever seen. I'm sure it went into the trash as soon as the red light went off.

I was 15 then and I too remember Ted's sad saga and the soggy secretary. Ted's entire statement was about this horrible thing that happened to him. Mary Jo was just a prop in his drama.

You would think!
Obamacare might put us in jail if we don't have health insurance and this idiot killed a woman.

I am not sure Mary Jo should be called a bimbo.

Not into character assassination but you gotta wonder about someone who wanted to boink a married man.
-
You are defined by what you do DUmbasses, every day, every last useless and miserable one of you.
Ted lived his life as a drunken abuser of women, managing to get one killed in the process...it was not a unique event, just the most tragic result of one.
That you celebrate him even though he never showed anything but crocodile tears shows what a disgusting bunch of hypocritical pieces of crap you are.
By the way, dead Ted couldn`t have been bothered to wipe any of you off his shoe as he walked through you,his since of privilege wouldn`t allow it.
He was the epitome of the 1% you so hate.

I don't think a person that commits a crime is a criminal for life. However, Dead Ted was never punished for his crime, so he remained a criminal until the day he died.

So, what does that have to do with Fat Teddy? The only things 'Great' about him after Chappaquiddick were his wasteline, his alcohol capacity, and his moral turpitude. "Heroic" is so laughably inappropriate to him that I can't imagine how even a DUmmorrhoid could say that one with a straight face.

When you are a Kennedy, the laws don't apply.
Rot in hell, you old fart.

I read the book "Chappaquiddick", and as far as I remember, there was no clear motive for Mary Jo to get in the car with the olympic swimmer. It could have been as simple as getting a ride home.
