White House might release oil reserves.... (let's do it and drive down gas prices before election!)

(Reuters) - The White House is "dusting off old plans" for a potential release of oil reserves to dampen rising gasoline prices and prevent high energy costs from undermining the success of Iran sanctions, a source with knowledge of the situation said on Thursday.

U.S. officials will monitor market conditions over the coming weeks, watching whether gasoline prices fall after the September 3 Labor Day holiday, as they historically do, the source said.

Sadly a lot of people will buy the bullshit if this were to happen. Then in 2013 when prices necessarily skyrocket again then those same idiots will be regretting believing the lie.

1. Release the reserves, get the gas knocked down to $2.50/gal

then Republicans are doomed for real.

3. Obama would never do this, and would deserve to lose if he did

One great thing about Obama is that he doesn't do this sort of thing.

8. You have a problem with non-corrupt government?

Obama is not a corrupt person. He would not look at Romney's tax returns, as folks have suggested. He would not use the strategic oil reserve to manipulate gas prices in an election, as some have suggested.

He is not Nixon or Bush.

This is a good thing about Obama. Sorry if you disapprove.

0bama is so corrupt he makes Nixon look like a saint.

7. Higher gas prices are not a national emergency

Funny how they were a national emergency when Bush was still president. It's almost like they are hypocrites or something.  :-)

10. odd how prices fell during the summer holiday season and are going up just as the elections....

are on their way....totally against tradition

the oil people do not like the President.

It is mind boggling how that industries that 0bama wants to bankrupt don't like him. I doubt the DUmmies will ever get the connection.

11. Don't we need more refineries instead?

Hurricane Katrina knocked out a bunch of them in 2005. How many of them have been rebuilt since then?

Who needs oil we have solar, wind, and unicorn farts.

Economics as a political weapon, that's owebuma's level of understanding.

He does that all the moonbats will be hailing him for bringing the prices down, but when they start to go up again, they will go back to blaming Bush and the Speculators.

Problem is DUmmies is that even if the oil is released, who's gonna refine it? Second, history has shown us that each and every time oil has been released from the reserve the price of gas went UP, not down.

Can you convert that to the level of the average owebuma voter ? Like Peggy Joseph ? As soon as she hears about releasing oil, she goes back to thinking she doesn't have to worry about putting gas in the car, because owebuma got elected.

I didn't think the President could do any thing about the price of gas.  :rotf:

Yeah, they are looking at the idea, trying to please people before the election and if he wins the plans will be off the drawing board.

Gas prices are going up again, likely the hurricane isn't helping.  Messing with strategic reserves won't do much to bring the price done.  The prices are likely here to stay for awhile imo.  Too bad for Obama.

What kills me is that when you suggest drilling for new oil, the nay-sayers immediately say "It won't have an effect for another 10 years."  Problem is we were saying we needed to drill for more oil 10 years ago, and 10 years before that, and 10 years before that.  Hey, if only we had done it 10 years ago, right?

At some point, we've got to take matters into our own hands and tell these fools to shut up or the consequences they're going to face will be immediate.

Let’s take a romp down memory lane and review the typical Obama campaign strategy. Obama became a U.S. senator only by virtue of David Axelrod’s former employer, the Chicago Tribune, ripping open the sealed divorce records of Obama’s two principal opponents.

The anointed one is so squeaky clean of corruption, Michelle Malkin was able to write a best seller about his corrupt exploits.

With Gas Prices Expected To Drop Below $3, Republicans Suddenly Silent On Obama’s Role
I know, you're all shocked!!
 >snip<
There was another where some primitive wanted all to thank the great and powerful "O", for bringing gas prices down.
DUmp pant-hooted.
Prices reversed, and started climbing again. Thread died. Gee, I wonder why?
Looked and looked, couldn't find it.  It was funny.

How do the DUches square the circle with that more domestic supply will not bring down gas prices with releasing our domestic supply will bring down gas prices.

Shit like this is why most leftists are clinically insane. How does any sane person hold two diametrically opposed concepts in their mind?

Don't think of their minds as thinking thoughts. Think of their minds as cherishing agenda items.

Think of their minds as brain cells.  They have exactly two--and each is waving goodbye to the other.

Even if this was to happen and had the affect they desire what the idiots fail to grasp is that the impact of high or low energy prices lags a couple to several months down the road.
We will be seeing the results of this latest spike up just about the end of October/early November.
Gee,what is it that will be happening around then DUmbasses?

$4.36 here in the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia.

Shoshone, CA was $5.26 but that is a little out of the way. Death Valley, CA is usually a buck higher!
