Title: Gaze and marvel at how our tax dollars are being spent
Post by: DixieBelle on May 23, 2008, 09:27:26 AM
Wanna know just what everyone is doing with that "free govt money" in the form of Stimulus Checks? Well, here's a site that shows you. That's right folks, our hard earned money taken by the govt and redistributed to the masses is being spent on things like skydiving trips, tire rims, pools, flat screens, etc..

Okay, I must give kudos to those who say they used the money for worthy causes like speech therapy for their kid or house payments or just left it in the bank. I'm really just snarking here.  :-)

Honestly, I don't have a problem with how people spend their money. I think stimulating the economy is a good thing. I was already doing that though. But I was against the stimulus-palooza from the beginning and still think it's a bad idea funded on the backs of all taxpayers.

I am firmly against the "stimulus package".  It is ridiculous, and if Mr. & Mrs. Average American would stop to think about it they would realize that if the government can afford to "give it back" they shouldn't have taken it in the first place.

Since it has happened anyway, I am all for folks using the money for whatever reason they see fit.  That freedom assures the money will be spread around through the economy.

I'm taking mine and putting it into a slot machine in Shreveport.

Too bad these rebates were not proportionate to the amount paid last year.  Seems like this would disenfranchise the higher income folks.   :fuelfire:

I noticed that one too.  If they are two months behind on their electric bill, they shouldn't have blown the rest.  This is why we have Du'ers, there are a lot of idiots in the world.

I suppose you never thought about actually banking some of that cash. You know, for your future electrical needs?

Hmm, so who's an ass?...man who runs the free world versus childcare provider two months behind on her light bills with a propensity to the profane...tough one there! I'm no dubya apologist either, but Jesus, maybe someone needs to be a little more conscience of her own poor decisions before calling someone else an ass. WOW!

P.S. It doesn't kill a child to have second hand stuff. Just a helpful tidbit:-D

I'd like to know how much that tv is. I'm betting this pair lives in an apartment(I won't elaborate as to why, just a guy feeling) so that overdue light bill is like what? 100 bucks? Educational toys? Ok, let's say 250 bucks..big boy bed--maybe 150 bucks(I doubt they got quality stuff) so that leaves, assuming they are actually married, 1000 bucks? Wow, that's some tv...don't expect they thought of maybe buying one for 500 and banking the other 500 to meet future electrical needs huh?

Maybe Miss 'hate dubya' should htink about getting a job other then 'childcare provider' since that seems to be working out soooo well for her :whatever:

My ex-sister-in-law use to watch kids until she found out it was too much work.  She stopped watching them but refused to get a job.  Every month they were robbing peter to pay paul and getting some utility turned off.  She didn't realize that by constantly having to pay fees to get things turned back on, the over draft fees at the bank and the late fees on bills that they might have been able to squeek by if they were just on top of their bills.  If she would have either bit the bullet and continued to watch kids or get at least a part time job they would have been able to make it.  They have filed bankruptcy TWICE and it pisses me off.  None of it had to do with something beyond their control, both times it was because they were friggen idiots.

LOL did you post in response to her jty?  Cause I just did.  It sounds like you.   :p

FWIIW, I just got mine and it almost exactly covers my expenses from my just-completed vacation in Jamaica and Mexico.

Hard to say whether that means I spent it there -- I would have had those expenses, stimulus or not.  It didn't change my plans and I haven't spent anything I would normally not have spent anyway.  The fact I didn't move a few bucks from my "hot" savings account (this is my "pay myself first" account I use to pay for things like vacations, TVs, etc. -- I ALWAYS pay cash) --which I was going to do -- probably means that I have put the check into savings, from one perspective.

But $1,200 just isn't that much.  It's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, but it just isn't that much.

I reiterated her word ASS as well.  I said, "what would you have done with out that ass "Dubya".  How would you have paid your overdo light bill.  Then I told her she was stupid for spending all the money that she should have paid the over do bill and saved the rest for when she was overdo again because I was sure it was going to happen again.  I also had to tell her that we probably paid for her stimulus check.  Ungrateful wench, I didn't say that part.  Although I had typed out ungrateful bitch but decided against it.

well, I'll take a stab at the scenario with that one too...she is a childcare provider because it pays her under the table, but likely isn't married to the daddy in the picture, nor reports him and his income as attached to her so she is likely having all of us pay to raise little junior via WIC, welfare, food stamps, and medicaid. If not, then she got EITC--wonder where that 3 or 4 grand went that she only got probably 2 months ago? Why didn't that pay the light bill? hmm...strange thing that.

Ya'll rock :-)

I did notice (but didn't pull them over here) that several people bought guns and made obvious pro-conservative statements like "the 2nd Amend is in jeopardy if a Dem gets the White House..." and a few people had some really good conservative comments. But sadly, they were in the minority and not as interesting as the DU type fools.

Oh and I totally am going over there to post too. I've been busy today.

For all of those idjits that bought foreign currency and have a grin on their face, you bought that currency here on American soil right? You may be planning on spending it in Europe, but you just "stimulated" the American economy by trading that money in at an American based business. Idjits! And for anyone who says they are taking their money overseas for a vacation, you're still stimulating the American economy. You're spending money on a flight from America aren't you?
