WASHINGTON (AP) — A Virginia man suspected of shooting and wounding a security guard at the Washington headquarters of a social conservative lobbying group on Wednesday made a negative reference about the organization's work before opening fire, a law enforcement official said.
Police said the man, identified as Floyd Lee Corkins II, entered the front lobby of the Family Research Council in downtown Washington around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, began arguing with a security guard and then shot him in the arm. Corkins, 28, was restrained by the wounded guard and others and was being held Wednesday night on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, the FBI said.
Authorities were interviewing Corkins to determine a reason for the shooting and were canvassing his neighborhood in Herndon, Va., outside Washington. TV news footage showed the suspect, a large man with a shaved head in an unbuttoned striped shirt, being led to a car in hand restraints.
Though authorities did not publicly reveal a motive, advocacy groups across the ideological spectrum condemned the violence, with some casting it as a hate crime. President Barack Obama was concerned about the wellbeing of the guard, a White House spokesman said, and Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney also said he was appalled.

The article said the organization was conservative and the shooter was a volunteer for LGBT. That doesn't sound like a teabagger to me. I think we need to wait for more info on this one.

I doubt he was a tea bagger. He's most likely a deranged individual who snapped - like most of these shooting events.
I don't recall reading that assertion after the shooting in CO and AZ. If I missed it, please point it out.

It's officially been confirmed: The shooter was a man who routinely volunteered at a community center for gays, and when he entered the FRC building, just before he pulled out the gun, he began loudly, openly insulting the FRC and what it stands for.

With very few exceptions every liberal I have gotten to know over the age of about 35 was mentally unstable in some way whether it was bipolar, a personality disorder, or some other quirk of the mind or hormones. It almost seems liberalism after a certain age should actually e a symptom of many mental health disorders.

It almost seems liberalism after a certain age should actually e a symptom of many mental health disorders.
When I was in nursing school we had an orientation before a stint in a local mental institution. Some of the points that were stressed was to not talk politics and NEVER mention the names Reagan or Bush in front of the patients. This would set many of them off, oftentimes violently.
I was pretty apolitical at the time but thought it odd that that Clinton or Carter's names weren't banned in discussion.

I have seen first hand how unhinged they get when you mention Bush or Reagan. It is really messed up. I just ignore people when they talk about Obama generally. Unless they get really stupid and need shut down.
