My fundie republican brother just can't vote for a Mormon
Bro is a hard core fundamentalist Christian, and says HE'S NOT VOTING this time out cause there is no one to vote for. I told him I am very pleased to hear that. Just think, there are others out there who feel exactly the same way, I wonder how many there are.
Me, I try not to hold a person's religion against them, I just can't vote for a monster, I'm a Democrat.

2. I've heard the same thing from dh's relations who are fundies
they say it's like voting against Jesus and everything he died for.

There might actually be a grain of truth in some of these stories.
For the record what I'm about to type is not my attempt at a Bouncy. It actually happened last month.
I come across someone who said that he wasn't planning on voting because he definitely wouldn't vote for Obama, but he just couldn't see himself voting for a Morman either. I told him that in my opinion voting for president shouldn't be a vote for who you think is your brand of Christian. That it should instead be a vote for who is best for the country.I asked if he thought Obama had been good for the country, and he replied with an emphatic no and that Obama was trying his hardest to shred the constitution. I asked him if he had any evidence that Romney would shred the constitution and he said no. I asked if he thought Romney could be good for the county. He said probably except for the Morman thing.
Then I recapped it for him. So Obama is bad for the country and shreds the constituation while Romney could probably be good for the country and would uphold the constitution. I asked if he agreed and he did. He then added that Romney was still a Morman. I told him that it doesn't matter so much about WHO or WHAT a person is. What really matters is what a person would do. Even if Romney was an atheist, if he upholds the constitution and the ideals as set forth by the founding fathers Christians have no need to worry. Compare that to an individual who may be muslem. Who claims to be a Christian (while taking shots at Christians). A man who would essentially have no one to answer to because this would be the last term he could serve so he would be going at his agenda full force. And by your own admission one piece of his agenda is the shredding the constitution. With all of that in mind which man do you think would be the best choice for Christians? He answered Romney.
By the time I left he had agreed to think on things.
I saw him a couple of weeks later and he was warming on Romney.
By the third time I saw him he a Romney defender.

ChuckJ, thanks for taking the time and being patient on walking that through.
You know, my husband has never been political in his life, thinking that nothing changes no matter who gets in. No longer. He finally registered (as an R, and he couldn't believe it), and he's actually out there talking to neighbors, bar patrons, fellow volunteers (fire/rescue), etc. Not the least bit shy about it, even in NY.

If he were a relative of mine, it's entirely possible that restraining orders would be involved in order to get him to leave me the **** alone. Many DUmbasses are that dense.

I do want to clarify something. I really don't think I "converted" the individual that I was talking about. I do think (or at least hope) that what I told him kind of got him to thinking about things. Based on our other conversations I seriously think the liberal attacks on Romney are what sealed the conversion.

Hey, DUmmie. My church just had a light meeting over the fact that Romney is a Mormon. And ALL of us agreed that even though he is a Mormon, his social beliefs match ours, so we are ALL voting for him.
