Is this even legal?

"- Be sure to provide employment history for the last FIVE years. The Month/Year should overlap from one entry to the next to ensure continuity."

Oh sure demand that Romney hand over tax returns from the last 40 years, yet bitch and moan when a perspective employer asks you for a job history of 5 years.  :mental:

1. Bizarre...

Where did you see this?

Obviously somewhere you would never visit, a job site.

3. Translation: If you have been unemployed at any time in the past 5 years, regardless of

the reason, even if it was to move home to take care of Mom for 3 months, WE DON'T WANT YOU.

When taking care of mom means you failed the piss test then yes it will hurt you.

I don't understand why this is even an issue, I thought the private sector was doing fine, and that 0bama's policies were working. Hell just a few weeks ago you were crowing about record low unemployment of 8.1%.  :rotf:

Why wouldn't it be legal?

Really!  My post was going to be a single "Yes".

Why wouldn't it be legal?

Because they don't like it, therefore it should be illegal, just like Talk Radio and other things they hate that they so desperately want made illegal.

Bullcrap, DUmmie.  They may want to see that your reliable and stable.  They don't want to invest a year training a person on all of the aspects of their business just so the person can go decide to do something else in a year.  Do you wanna know why I know that DUmmies?  I ask hiring managers, when I talk to them, about questions exactly like that.

Hiring managers do not care if you have a gap in employment or if you were laid off in this economy, though they might consider what your last employer has to say.  When they ask me about my last employer, I hand them five years of ratings marked exceeds and two letters of recommendation from former bosses.  DUmmies bemoan the economy.  I have two employers bidding for my services and probably two more by the end of the week.

I have noticed that more and more employers are asking for five and even ten year work histories. It used to be standard that you gave three years of your work history but not any more. Anything past the 8 year mark for me though gets tough because most of the employers have gone out of business.

Easy for me:  I worked at the same place for 30 years.

Hard for me:  They are all dead now.

I've been at the same job for over 23 years, and will stay there until I can't do the work or am old enough to retire.

It's not that you can't have a gap, they want the gaps explained too.  That's all, DUmmie.  You should jot down how many years you have been a member of DU, including your screen name.  The employer would appreciate that.

Their number of posts would explain the gaps in their employment, too.

It would prove to your perspective employer your vast cerebral capacity, and help in his hiring decision about where you should be placed.

(Anywhere off the premises, most preferred!)   :lmao:

I hope someone that gets a work VISA due to the DREAM act gets the job.

I'm sure they won't have any problem with the questions and will be a much better employee.

Don't ever get a job with the government then.  For a security clearance, you'll have to go back seven or ten years depending on the level sought.
