Obama Has Plenty of Time to Drop Biden

12:35 PM, Aug 15, 2012 • By DANIEL HALPER

President Barack Obama has slightly more than 22 days to drop Vice Presidential Joe Biden from the 2012 Democratic presidential ticket, according to lawyers familiar with the party nominating process. That is, Democrats have until September 6 to formally nominate their presidential ticket which will then be qualified for the 50 state ballots.

And it is still possible for that ticket not to include the current vice president, Joe Biden.

"As a sitting president and vice president, Obama and Biden are both considered the Democrats' presumptive nominees and will not be the official nominees until after Charlotte," a lawyer familiar with the party nominating process tells me. "Each party has to file paperwork with each state once the candidates become official nominees. So it's still quite possible for Obama to drop Biden and replace him with someone else and pay no consequences with listing on ballots."

The nominating process will take place at the Democratic party convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, which is being held September 3-6.

Renewed speculation that Biden could be dropped from the ticket comes on the heels of yet another gaffe by the vice president. "They gonna put y'all back in chains," Biden said of the Republican candidates for president and vice president yesterday at a campaign stop. CNN reported that a senior adviser called Biden's comments "not helpful," and that "they believe the vice president has knocked them off track."

What are they gonna do to Biden?  It's not as if they can do anything.  Maybe keep him in DC, where he's got the fawning press corps to try to put a lid on him.

I don't think Clinton will either.  Domping Joe could only be seen as total panic.

Palin calls on Obama to dump Biden in favor of Hillary Clinton – as Giuliani questions the vice president's 'mental capacity' after 'put y'all in chains' scandal

Sarah Palin has said that Joe Biden’s controversial ‘put y’all back in chains’ comment should be the ‘nail in the coffin’ for his career and suggested Barack Obama replace him on the 2012 ticket with Hillary Clinton.

She added that she hoped Obama would not take such a step because ‘an Obama/Clinton ticket would have a darn good chance of winning’.

There is virtually no chance of Obama replacing Biden as his running mate and it is doubtful that Clinton, who harbours ambitions to run for the White House in 2016, would even want to be the president’s running mate.

Why would we want him to do that?  Joe Biden stinks worse than three-day-old socks... by all means, keep him on the ticket.

Dropping Slow Joe would be seen as a desperation move by Obama, and along with all the other Obama appointees that have jumped ship or been thrown under the bus would provide great fodder for campaign ads.

"Why vote for Obama, he has no faith in his own appointees, and many of them had little faith in him."

Slow Joe could have another medical problem. He has already had 2 brain surgeries and that was before he assumed the VP job. Did not hear a peep out of the media during the campaign, and the Repubs were too stupid to bring it up. If the shoe was on the other foot, it would have been big news.

The Trouble with Joe

The vice president is an embarrassment to the White House.

By John Fund

The Obama campaign told The Hill on Tuesday that it “is confident Vice President Biden will be an effective foil” for Paul Ryan despite Biden’s latest gaffe. I’m not so sure, and neither are some Democrats.

Biden’s rhetorical belly-flop yesterday was a doozy. He first told a largely black audience in Danville, Va., that he hoped they could help Obama win North Carolina. He followed that up with the claim that Mitt Romney wanted to “unchain Wall Street.” He then switched to a comic down-home accent and bellowed, “They’re gonna put y’all back in chains!”

Willie Geist, a co-host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, was blunt: “If Paul Ryan, the Republican candidate, said that to an African-American audience, there would be calls this morning for him to get out of the race, for Mitt Romney to withdraw from the race. There’s a double standard.”

But there has been a double standard for Joe Biden for decades, and almost every reporter in Washington knows it. Last night, a frustrated Rudy Giuliani acknowledged it on CNBC. “I’ve never seen a vice president that has made as many mistakes, said as many stupid things,” he told Larry Kudlow. “I mean, there’s a real fear if, God forbid, he ever had to be entrusted with the presidency, whether he really has the mental capacity to handle it. I mean, this guy just isn’t bright. He’s never been bright. He isn’t bright. And people think, ‘Well, he just talks a little too much.’ Actually, he’s just not very smart.”

Biden has been very lucky that the national media have largely given him a pass until now. American history for the last half century has been replete with Republicans who have been portrayed by the elite media as dim or addled — from Dwight Eisenhower to Gerald Ford to Ronald Reagan and Dan Quayle to, of course, George W. Bush and Sarah Palin. No Democrat with comparable national stature has been saddled with a similar reputation. The media have tended to explain away Biden’s strange statements and unforced errors by saying, “Oh, well. That’s just Joe, you know.” Or they casually admit, “Well, he just talks a bit too much,” and then move on.

There is no way in Hell he will pick Hitlery as a VP, unless he intends to expand the Secret Service about threefold, rotate her contingent of it out completely every week, and hire a bunch of food tasters.

I think Palin's little shot was aimed at Jarret who hates Hitlery more than Opera.
