Do you support requiring a photo ID to vote?
-
I vote a strong "YES."
-
Support it? I don't even know why we're talking about it. It should of been the only way you get to vote for at least the last fifty years.
The fact that required photo ID is not the norm is the real controversy.
-
I dont see how anyone can be against it

I can. Anyone that believes their party relies on voter fraud to win will be against voter ID laws.
-
If it takes having a driver's license to prove that you know how to drive and that you meet certain criteria, it's not a stretch to have a state ID that proves you are legally eligible to vote.
-
Showing an ID to vote should be a federal law...
-
We're fighting for it in Federal Court right now.

Why, I wonder? Why? The USSC has already spoken. Photo ID is perfectly reasonable. Why is the subject back in any court?

Thats just manufactured outrage though, politics has now adopted the sports fan mentality. Its okay as long as our side does something to win but when the other side does it we scream bloody murder.
-
The fact that this is even debateble is nuts. We use ID to protect ourselves in every other area. Why not for voting too?

Retorical question I assume?

The voting rights act of 1964 say states with a history of discriminatory voting practices can not implement any change affecting voting without first obtaining the approval of the Department of Justice
That act should be declared unconstitutional.

Because buying beer and cigarettes is more imporant to some people than voting.

And buying beer doesn't put dems in office.

Buying votes does, though.

I use my DL as my id everytime I vote. Don't ask me where my voter's registration card is, I couldn't tell you.

I've got my voter's ID card tossed in a desk drawer somewhere.
I think.

I didn't think that applied to Pennsylvania.

The PA case was just state court under the grounds it was against PAs constitution, its the Texas case that is in federal court

Voters buying it themselves no, Dems supplying it to GOTV among the bums, yes.

I need to do my homework. :p

I need to do my homework. :p
Me, too.

I do. I have to show my ID for everything else. If it's so "racist" to have people show an ID, then why isn't there cries of racism at the liquor stores?

Because they're drunk?

I would think being drunk would cause race riots at the liquor store then. I'm happy today. I didn't get carded when I bought some wine. Sucks though... because what if I look 40 now? :(

I dunno. Go ahead and card a drunk voter sometime. They get pretty irate. :rotf:

It's totally ridiculous , there are so many things we do in our every day life that requires a pic ID that an ID to vote should be a non issue.
-
Is water wet?
Is ice cold?
Is Nancy Pelosi the most useless idiot demented retard in Congress?
:-)
Uh yes, I'm in favor ot a photo id to vote. Ahem.
-
Gee. Not one of the trolls had the courage to vote. Why am I not surprised? ::)
-
I show my photo ID every time I go to vote. so yes I think everyone should. It helps to protect the integrity and honesty of the voting system

We have to show ID in this country for every damn thing, why should voting be any different? The Dem's scream that it disenfranchises blacks, the elderly and other minorities. To that I say bullshit. These people that the Dem's always throw up as an example fall into a couple of different categories. If they are still working they have ID, either a drivers license or ID card which would have had to be shown to their employer when they first got hired. The elderly have to be on some sort sort of assistance, federal or state. Either that or they would have starved to death long before now. When they applied for help or anytime they had to deal with the agency that is providing assistance they would have had to show ID to prove who they were.
I have to believe that there are really very few people out there without some form of ID, eligible voters I mean, not the bus loads of illegals Dem's try to slip by us now and then. Even then there will always be some who didn't get the message, or fell through the cracks somehow, for them almost every state provides a state issued ID card at no expense, thereby killing the fine or poll tax talking point that Dem's like to use. Mandatory ID is not an unusual request. It doesn't put a burden on anyone and it is not racist. What it does do is it protects our voting system against fraud, and this is what really bothers the left.
