Would our nation be substantially different if Jimmy Carter had been re-elected? Yes, in a very bad way.

Yeah everything would have just been so peachy if only those meddeling kids hadn't of gotten a hold of ..........Oh who cares Jimmy the peanut was dumb as paste when it came to most everything and the US paid for it in a lot of ways . He let the whole Iranian thing turn Tango Uniform and gave the Russians and Panama everything they wanted and still managed to get Service members killed trying to un**** everything he did with Desert 1. The last thing this country wanted on both sides was another 4 years of that tool in office. Just look at the election map of 1980. You couldn't find a Democrat to vote for Jimmy Peanut to save your life.

Does that lok like the country wanted another four years of Carter? You might be in for a simular surprise this November .

Compassion and caring? You liberals are a strange lot. To you, putting a bullet between a terrorist's eyes before he can murder innocent people is a terrible, evil, cold-hearted thing, but killing an innocent, unborn baby is wonderful. I really don't think any of you are in any kind of position to be discussing compassion and caring.

There is a whole lot of crazy in that thread.  Delusion, too.  They act like that map posted just above never even happened.  They're incapable of introspection and analyzing why that map happened.

36. Reagan used his movie career training to maximum advantage and projected what

Carter could not project: sunny optimism. He fooled a great number of people in this country.

When I think of all the wise things that Carter did or proposed that were so ahead of his time and would have been so beneficial to this country, I get depressed.

Down the street, not across the aisle.

Down the street, not across the aisle.

...and do it today, not tomorrow.

There was nothing wise about Carter or his Administration. He was an embarrassment to the country after 4 years.

Just for the record I don`t believe that map is 1980 although found it listed as such.
Jimmuh did win his home state of Georgia.

Back then Republican states were blue but this changed either in 1988 or 1992 I think.
Always figured it was because the dems were uncomfortable that they were appropriately linked to the commie color.

Yeah, that's it.  I thought the earlier one was missing something, but wasn't sure what.

Georgia.

You know, because the presidential election of 1984 was so overwhelming, many tend to forget the presidential election of 1980 was a big landslide, too.  Not as big as 1984, but a big one nonetheless, especially since it unseated a sitting president.

The elections of 1980 and 1932, when Franklin Roosevelt unseated a sitting president, were eerily similar.

The elections of 1984 and 1936, when Franklin Roosevelt won by an even bigger landslide, were eerily similar.

I've never forgiven Carter for interrupting Battlestar Galactica for some peace agreement.

Color was swapped because the dems whined that it "unfairly" maligned them.

Jimmy Carter, oh yeah, remember him fondly. Hyper inflation and 22% interest.

It was recession/depression/starvation time for me from 1974 until 1982.

IIRC it used to be the colors depended on who was the incumbent, I think it changed in 2000 because of the intensity of the election, the "red state" label stuck.

Reagan believed in this country and the people and loved both.  That was not faked.  For fakery look to Obama when he tries to talk about the military.
