After a campaign speech in Council Bluffs, President Barack Obama took a trip up Interstate 29 to get a firsthand look at the effects of the current drought on crops on Don McIntosh's farm.

"I don't know how to put it in words," said McIntosh. "It was not an average day on the farm, believe me."

McIntosh, 59, got the chance to show the president his devastated corn crop near Missouri Valley. He said of his 2,200 acres of crops, a third of them are damaged.

"This is, in my farming career, the worst I've seen," McIntosh said. "We had dry years in the past -- 1974, 1988 -- but this is the worst."

Yet last year his sorr yass couldn't bother to come out here and see the damage from all the flooding which I believe is higher then what is going on now. Gee thanks Barry I guess Iowa only counts in an Election year.
