Next from the EPA: Four-Gallon-Minimum Gas Purchases
The Environmental Protection Agency is going to require all consumers to buy at least four gallons of gasoline from certain gas pumps after the new E15 ethanol-gasoline blend is introduced into the market.
The new regulation was revealed in an Aug. 1 letter to the American Motorcyclist Association, which expressed concern that the vast majority of motorcycles and ATVs in use today aren’t designed to operate on E15 fuel and residual fuel from a pump that serves multiple blends might harm these tanks.
“The use of E15 will lower fuel efficiency and possibly cause premature engine failure,†Wayne Allard, AMA vice president for government relations, wrote in a June 20 letter to EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson. “Use of E15 fuel voids many manufacturer warranties. In off-road engines, the effects can even be dangerous for users.â€
The EPA responded that it requires that retail stations with blender pumps either dispense E15 from a dedicated hose and nozzle if able or, in the case of E15 and E10 being dispensed from the same hose, require that at least four gallons of fuel be purchased to prevent vehicles and engines with smaller fuel tanks from being exposed to gasoline-ethanol blended fuels containing greater than 10 percent ethanol.
This minimum mandate attempts to dilute residual amounts of E15 that will be left in the shared hose.

With the drought livestock farmers are pressuring the ethanol producers to divert more crops to feed.

Our crops should go 100% to feed and to human food. Period. Ethanol is a scam of major proportions.
AND: Motorcycles don't even hold more than 4 gallons. How would it be enforced?

Good point. Some famous philosopher once said, "Man should never use food for burning".

Honest....I just the other morning saw a couple of people put $2 worth of gas in their car to get to work. That's just a shade over a 1/2 gallon....what about the poor Obama? Are we now going to subsidize gasoline for the poor?

How IS Peggy Joseph getting by ?

I remember doing that when gas was $0.28/gallon. (Am I dating myself? :lmao: )

I remember when it stayed around $0.23/9. I pumped gas at my daddy's store. I would run out and someone would want 50 cent worth. I remember thinking, "I ran out here for that!"..of course I smiled and said thank you. That was at least a little over 2 gallons, enough to get somewhere.
Am I dating myself?.......after divorcing the first wife, I think it would have been cheaper.

This rule is racist, and also against the poor. I can not count the times that I have seen people buy less than a gallon of gas for their cars.
With the Obama gas price jack going on, poor people can't afford $20 for gas and still afford their lottery tickets.

Does this mean that they are going to require mopeds, scooters, lawn tractors, lawn mowers, gas powered weed whackers and gas powered rc cars to have a 4 gallon tank on them?
-
What about portable gas cans? All of mine are 1-2 gallons. Am I supposed to buy new ones?

I bought one not long ago...it's 4 gallons.

How are they going to enforce it? What happens if I just hang up the nozzle after only a couple gallons?

Sort of like Obamacare. You will be fined for noncompliance.

Awesome. Another way to make me a criminal. Just what I need.

Simple, they will require everyone to prepay if they use cash, or credit cards will be billed the minimum amount for 4 gallons.
-
Anyone who doesn't comply with the 4 gallon law is probably a speeder as well. I don't care if you are filling your weedeater.

How much does a weedeater hold? Half a gallon? A quart?
At this rate, we'll be criminals before we get out of the womb.

Some bikes - actually only a few - have tanks 4 or more gallons.
Mine holds an even 5 gallons. Larger bikes, like the Gold Wing, hold 6, IIRC.

Make sure you speed all the way to the pump in a most wasteful ostentatious manner so as to arrive at the pump with a bone dry tank.

You know, the ONLY time I've ever run out of gas in ANY kind of vehicle was on my bike. And it was unpleasant dealing with it.
**** the EPA. I'll get my gas in the quantities I want.

See, once they tell you that you have to buy something its a slippery slope! Whats next?

Punish those who want to use the E10?

I read all this stuff about gas with ethanol added and all I can think is "Thank god we don't have to put up with that shit here".

Your sig line -- whatever the hell that is -- sucks donkey balls, but it's good to see you drop in about once every 6 months or so. You're our token Canuck. :-)
Uh....Canada's ranked only 12th in the world for corn production. You guys are doing the smart thing -- feeding your cattle with it, rather than using a helluva lot of energy to convert it to....energy.
There's a lot of money to be made in corn if you're in the American government. :whatever:

Yes, at least you have that. Good to see you around!

Looks like the zipper on a queers pants to me.

I typically fill mine up when I fill up the Jeep.
But E15? Oh, God, this is going to be a disaster for older vehicles (read: pretty much anything not E85/Flex Fuel.)

Just part of Obama's plan to stimulate the economy and get people to buy new cars. Use the EPA to destroy the engines in their old one and they have to buy a new one.

Under normal circumstances I would say that you are crazy for thinking that, but this being the 0bama administration you may be 100% accurate. :banghead:

I've said it once & I will say it again.
Back in the 90's even left wing publications were calling ethanol a scam.
It's still a scam.
There is also no fuel tax on ethanol. So now 15% of your purchase at the pump won't be taxed, so they will just raise the tax.
What about the family strapped for cash waiting on pay day and they only have $12 till Friday? :censored:
This shit pisses me off.

While Obama destroys Grandma's Medicare he might as well make her buy a new car while he's at it to help the UAW. :bird:
