Okay.

Now ask franksolich why we deaf usually consider closed captioning a joke or a waste, or both.

This is from a youtube of Mike Mellow or Mark Malloy or whatever his name is, losing his temper over Chick-fil-A.

This is WHY franksolich doesn't even mess with it.  It's garbage.

I swear; this is what nadin does, write closed captioning.

It's a very good think franksolich doesn't rely upon the oblate spheroid to explain things to him.

I've heard the closed captioning on Red Eye can be hilarious but I always forget to watch it with CC on.

The "quality" of closed captioning varies, dependent upon who's making it, but generally overall it's pretty bad.  Some are a little bit better than the oblate spheroid, but not much.

If you have the chance, some time watch a college football game with the closed captioning thingamajig on, and you'll see what I mean.

Television has been around all my life, but as a person who can't hear, the only time it gave me any insight or entertainment was during the early 1990s, when it happened I had a pretty boring job, and watched C-Span all the time.  Without closed captioning.

The wealthy "socialist" Bernie Sanders of Vermont was at the time congressman from that state, and he was always fun to watch, as the old man wroth and waxed righteously indignant about one thing or another.

I had no idea what Bernie waxed about, but his body language was hilarious.

It was at that time I decided that if I ever had to appear before a congressional committee, if Bernie Sanders were on that committee, I'd demand a sheet of 3/4" plexiglass be placed between the two of us, to shield me from his flying spittle.

Bernie sprays a lot.
