Team Obama denies knowing story of man in its TV ad, call
When President Obama’s aides said they weren’t familiar with former Missouri steelworker Joe Soptic’s life story, all they had to do was check their own campaign archives.
Soptic, laid off from Bain Capital-owned GST Steel, stars in a Priorities USA Action spot this week in which he tells of how his wife died without health insurance after he lost his job. Soptic also appeared, wearing what appears to be an identical shirt, in a May television ad for the Obama campaign.
Asked about the Priorities spot on MSNBC Wednesday morning, Robert Gibbs said he doesn’t “know the specifics†while Stephanie Cutter said on CNN: “I don’t know the facts about when Mr. Soptic’s wife got sick or the facts about his health insurance.â€
And Jen Psaki told reporters on Air Force One that “we don't' have any knowledge of the story of the family,†according to Yahoo! News.
But Cutter hosted an Obama campaign conference call in May in which Soptic told reporters the very story featured in the Priorities spot.

2. It was not an Obama campaign ad. It was a superpac-funded and released ad.
MSM at work, once again.

4. It's spin to discredit the ad. Thanks for bringing it to our attention so we can counter it.

7. It was a Super PAC AD.
Super PACs are not allowed to coordinate directly with candidates or political parties.
What the hell does the media expect them to say?

In criminal legal cases there is a term:
consciousness of guilt
Why are they so nervous about something they would normally endorse and actually say a thousand times a day?
Anyway...

Faces of Romney economics: Joe Soptic, American steelworker
By Grant Fuller on May 15, 2012
Joe Soptic worked at GST Steel in Kansas City for nearly 30 years. He earned a good salary, bought a house and a car, sent his daughter to college—his family felt secure in the middle class. Joe and his coworkers made high-quality American steel, and they were proud of it.
“There was a real sense of community among the workers. We watched out for one another, we enjoyed coming to work every day, our jobs were good jobs.â€
But their hard work and responsibility never fully paid off. In 1993, Mitt Romney led a group of investors who took control of GST Steel. They cut costs, began extracting big profits in the form of dividends, and heaped debt on what had been a successful company. By 1995, the company's total debt had grown to $378 million, and there were mounting concerns that the employee pensions were being dangerously underfunded.
By 2001, the company's debt had grown to $500 million, and GST Steel was forced into bankruptcy.

1. Very powerful. Mr. Soptic is an excellent spokesperson, I believe he was in the first
ad that was made, I'm not sure. The Dems need to keep pounding this message over and over. It just grabs you, nothing phoney or scripted about it. These are real people who have lived the nightmare of Romney. Thanks for posting this.

2. Agreed, pound it home. This is what people can see beyond the GOP dogma. K & R.
More, OFA, much more of this. Don't stop!

I'm not seeing a lot of threads talking about this kerfuffle. You'd think DU would be screaming for more of this bloodletting from Obama, and yet...

I think the technical term for this is stepping on one's dick. Another brilliant ad campaign down the pooper.

:o Nice work, SSB, with the additional links! I think you ought to send it somewhere. Screencapped.
-
I wonder how DU is going to deal with having the evidence that the Obama campaign was entirely aware of Joe Soptic right on its own pages, with links back to Obama's campaign site ?
So far, neither of them have scrubbed any of it, but I can only suppose its a matter of time before some action is taken to hide this great big dog turd under the rug.

Interestingly enough it seems that both barackobama.com and romneyeconomics.com have purged anything that mentions Mr.Scoptics down the memory hole.
Odd that.
-
Wow!! Breitbart has an article reporting Lanny Davis has come down hard on ABM & his canpaign over this ad. This can't be good for them.

So, when can we expect the prosecution for coordination between superPAC and the campaign? I guess anytime after Jan 21, 2013.

Its still there- you just need to go on a treasure hunt to find it, and the only way you get the name 'Soptic' is by running the embedded video on this page.

I can only suspect that its way too late to perform damage control now, so they are going to go into defiance-mode instead.

I'm sure holder is personally looking into this as we speak.

I'm sure holder is personally looking into finding a way Obama can invoke Executive Privilege to cover this as we speak.
Edited for accuracy.
