Judge Dismisses Lawsuit By Guatemalans (Deliberately) Infected In U.S. Experiments
U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton granted a motion by the U.S. federal government to dismiss a lawsuit by Guatemalan victims infected with STDs while U.S. researchers tested the effects of penicillin in the 1940s.
According to Guatemalan officials, 2,082 people — most of them vulnerable members of Guatemalan society like orphans, prisoners, soldiers and mental patients who did not give consent — were deliberately infected with syphilis, gonorrhea or chancroid in experiments funded by the predecessor of the National Institutes of Health to test different dosages of penicillin against different diseases.
The U.S. says that 1,308 were infected.
After the experiment was uncovered by a medical historian in 2009, U.S. President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius all apologized for the research. However, the U.S. did not respond to victims’ demands for an out-of-court claims process, and they were forced to file suit.
Judge Walton called the experiments a “deeply troubling chapter in our nation’s historyâ€, but said that that federal law bars claims against the U.S. based on injuries suffered in a foreign country.

1. This is a deeply troubling decision
If the US government uses people as guinea pigs, how on earth can federal law bars claims against the U.S. based on injuries suffered in a foreign country?
But you still love socialism where the government is no longer the adjudicator but the prime actor so you no longer have a recourse for grievances.

3. The other thing that disgusts me
is that Mitt, et al, thinks the US has nothing to apologize for, that the US should be immune from answering for committing these atrocities.
what
da****?
It does not matter how far they have to reach; everything must be politicized and it must be pinned on the opponent even when their own heroes are the actual culprits.
That just proves that all those breast-beating moments of deep remorse for the plight of the downtrodden are really nothing more than cheap opportunism. They don't give a squat about the unfortunate or the wronged, they just want a chance to exert power over you. They are shameless manipulators, liars and thugs.
Blessedly weak thugs...I doubt they will last more than mere minutes in a real stand-up fight.
But do not ever allow yourself to believe for a moment that their empathies and sympathies are anything more than shabby parlor tricks.

5. This country has a very dark side
It's done this sort of shit to it's own countrymen and countrywomen.
The Tuskegee experiment, also called the Tuskegee Syphilis Study

I don't see why "this country" has to accept blame for the acts that have always reviled those of us who stand opposed to socialism, moral relativism and the inevitable tyranny of big government.

Mitt is also responsible for the Japanese interment camps in the 1940s.
-
Is Mitt also responsible for the medical experiments carried out by the Japanese on American POWs?

If it's bad, Mitt is responsible. Krakatoa was also Mitt's fault. The Holocaust was, believe it or not, Mitt's fault too. Ukraine USSR government induced famine, you guessed it. The whole 40 million dead Chinese during the cultural revolution, I think you know, Mitt was behind that too. All those innocent muslims that are killed by drone strikes in the last 31/2 years, Mitt was behind that too.

Wrong. Most of those things were caused by George W. Bush.

Correct.
It was Mitt's DOJ who introduced the motion to dismiss these lawsuits... oh, wait...

Better then even odds that Mitt has not idea about the case.
